10th Region Face of the Sports Program
And as Schabs would say, a face made for radio!!!! All kidding aside, NO ONE ANYWHERE promotes their program better, or more tirelessly, than Dave Schabell at Bishop Brossart High School!! He is an outstanding advocate for the school, and they are lucky to have him. Hats off to Schabs!!

Bishop Brossart 63 Scott 62
In hindsight, Scott MAY have been better off missing the second FT, despite the 1-point lead ... it was going to take a 3-point heave regardless. As stated, Brossart was out of timeouts, and would have had to go the length of the court with 4.3 seconds and no play set up off the miss. I doubt they would have gotten the look they did without the benefit of the Scott TO, and the ability to inbound the ball with a measure of composure. Coach Carr mentioned in the Enquirer that they "didn't execute well on the last possession". Based on the video, they forced Brossart to inbound the ball pretty deep in the backcourt, and had someone rushing at the shooter. Minus the double-team on Jennings at half-court and each defender on a man, I'm not sure how much better they could have defended the final shot.

Bishop Brossart 67 Mason County 60
Burns truly "possessed" on the night .. virtually unstoppable. Play of the game .. first possession of the second half, down 32-30, Hackworth misses a shot, Burns does his best Superman effort diving for the errant rebound heading out of bounds, and while parallel to the floor, flips the ball left-handed to Rieger in front of Mustangs bench for a 3-ball, and a 33-32 BBHS lead. Next possession, Rieger works his way from weak-side under the basket for another cool 3-ball, and the Mustangs never looked back. Goes without saying .. Mustangs don't win that game without Burns' herculean efforts on both ends of the courts. His athleticism, motor and never-die effort are a joy to watch.

Holmes v Newport Catholic 2/14 Predictions
As great as the frontline for NCC is, the head of the monster is Pangallo. Cut off the head, you slay the dragon. Game is in McClendon's hands.

Bishop Brossart @ Newport Central Catholic (Fri. 2-7) predictions
So basically, 1 player in the top six from a designated feeder school. I don't see any issue with that ....

9th Region All "A" Regional
I sensed an apology would be due!! I misread the thread, and "jumped to conclusions". When the reference was made for LB to comment, coupled with the statements "transfer to Newport for basketball" and "they certainly don't transfer in for girls hoops, but have in recent years on the boy's side", I assumed the posters were referring to NCC in particular. So again, mea culpa. Now, back to trashing the "A" ....

Newport Catholic/Holmes at The Bank of Kentucky Center????
Since the powers that be are on a roll, how about moving the Brossart/Scott game and making it a tripleheader??!!! 5:00 matinee? :greedy:

9th Region All "A" Regional
Disagree with that statement. If I'm not mistaken (and I apologize in advance if so), but I believe the starting forward for the girls team (a very accomplished player) began her career at Holmes.

Nicholas County 73 Bourbon County 71
How did Nicholas Co even have this game scheduled in the middle of the 10th Region All A tournament week? Did they assume they were going to get knocked out, or was it a last minute add after being eliminated on Saturday?

Trimble County 87 Eminence 5 (8th Region All "A")
So, 38 points in the second half, with a running clock?? That almost seems impossible, especially if you are trying to be "respectful" to an out-manned opponent. Wow.

10th Region Class A Tournament
The first game is a rematch of last years' Regional final, won by Brossart 45-41. I would expect an equally competitive game tonight. These two teams are very similar .. I expect a very close game tonight .. too close to call. Both teams have fantastic fan support. I would bet that Regents Hall will be rocking!

Scott 4 Campbell County 0 (37th District Semi-Final)
According to khsaa DQ report, one player received a red card against CovCath 10/3/13 (2 game suspension against Conner (10/5) and Camp Co (10/15). The other player received a red card against Conner 10/5 (2 game suspension against Camp Co (10/15) and Brossart (10/17)). A side note: the same player red carded against CovCath also received a red card in the JV Regional Final against Brossart on 10/5. So according to the khsaa, that player must sit out two subsequent varsity games, but is allowed to participate (and get carded) in a JV game, with no consequence (zero game suspension). Interesting.

this is priceless .. Coach Ted Lasso "my job just got a lot easier ... ties, and no playoffs!"

Advantage inside the box
That was my take on the play I witnessed (give the PK). As stated, the left outside mid was challenged. It was by no means a gimme .. I think most teams would take the opportunity at a PK versus a challenged advantage.
-
Advantage inside the box
I saw a similar play in a recent JV game. Right outside mid had a breakaway. Keeper came out and blew up the player, ball squirted to left side of box where left outside mid came charging (and was challenged), but missed wide. Right outside mid was injured on the play, and after the injury delay, the official yellow-carded the keeper. As I was leaving the game, I passed the official in the parking lot, and my curiosity got the better of me. I asked the official what the yellow card was for on the keeper. He stated the keeper made NO PLAY ON THE BALL, and attacked the offensive player WITH CLEATS UP. He stated that offensive team "had advantage", because the ball was loose in front of the net. He also said, that if the ball were not in an advantage situation, he would have red-carded the keeper for dangerous play, resulting in a PK. So where is the true advantage? Correct call?

That bounce pass around the 2:19 mark is SICK!! The step-back 3s are killer, and as many great things as that young man does, that court vision and awareness and unselfish play is very impressive. Kudos to Coach Dawn for opening the door for EVERYONE to play. Best of luck to all the players .. should be a great season!!!- 10th Region Pre-Season Rankings Teams and Players

it should never get to that .. just play the game. Really? And what if Harrison was up big and Martin plucked a player as a result of the harassment? Everybody would be complaining. Like I said .. it should never get to that, and the CC coach should prevent it from happening. Sounds like it was almost encouraged, based on the post-game compliment.- Harrison County 1 Campbell County 0 (10th Region Championship)
