N.Ky kids currently playing D1 soccer?

Featured Replies

Are there currently any players from N.Ky playing soccer at the D1 level. (I'll expand this to the past 6 or 7 years.) I know Austin Juniette from NCC played for NKU as a Freshman and is now at Thomas More.

I went to the NKU vs. UK game a few weeks ago and saw a few Ky. players on each roster (If I remember they were Louisville schools).

UofL (Women) - Katie Walz - Bishop Brossart

UofL (Women) - Megan Berberich - NDA

UD (Women) - Libby Leedom - St Henry

Arkansas St (Women) - Ava Abner - Highlands

Alabama St (Women) - Courtney Ledonne - Bishop Brossart

many, many more playing lower collegiate levels

Natalie Vaught from St. Henry plays at Indiana State and Lauren Bennett from Walton is at South Dakota. I know of many others, both men and women playing at other collegiate levels.

The main story here.......Women, women, women, women.........

On the Men's side, schools will tend to go over seas to offer the scholarships.............NKU , for example has an Ireland trend the past few years.....

I think Froschour (sp) from Ryle went to Dayton, but not sure if he is playing...or on scholarship....

Evan Talkers went to UC, but he has since changed over to football (K) and was never on scholarship for soccer.........

There were several players on Thomas More's team (Dexter Morgan, etc) but that isn't D1.....

Shelby Evans from Pendleton County plays for Coastal Carolina.

Her name is not as well known because did not play high school soccer at Pendleton County after her sophomore season. She only played on her club team and in the Olympic Development Program.

Is this Morgan Evan's sister. Morgan was very good when she was younger - I assume she still is.

Several others to add:

Mackenzie Grause at Cincinnati

Mackenzie Cole at Western Carolina I believe

Jordan Frommeyer - Bishop Brossart. He is currently playing for Wheeling Jesuit University. No clue what division they are but wanted to give a shout out to Jordan!

Yes. They live in Cincinnati now and Morgan plays for Summit Country Day.

Yes, that was my mistake in the thread as I knew that there were several local girls playing. I was trying to find out if any boys were playing D1.

Still, hard to believe no N.Ky boys are playing D1.

Yes, look at any roster of 20-25 players and you will likely find 6-10 foreign born players who likely have been playing this sport exclusively since an early age or perhaps were at one of the major academies overseas and matriculated to the U.S.

NKU (Women) - Aubrey Muench - NCC (via UofL)

NKU (Women) - Maria Silbersack - Bishop Brossart

NKU (Women) - Allison Ponzer - Simon Kenton

NKU (Women) - Kara Yeaste - Anderson Co (8th Region .. somewhat NKy)

about 16-18 on the NKU roster from the Cincinnati/Dayton area

On the men's side, Jordan Hilgefort from St Henry had successful soccer career at Marshall University, but graduated last year.

Yes, Shelby is Morgan's sister.
