  1. I think Maxpreps is closer to right than Masseys.. Masseys gives too much credit for strength of schedule and less for actual results. There needs to be a little more balance somewhere. No way, at this point in time, would I have Beechwood ahead of Hazard or Frankfort or Williamsburg. The Holmes loss, although the final was 33-21 and looked respectable, was really not. Didn't Bwood score 2 really late TDs to make it look closer than what it actually was? Then, noone in NKy feels Holmes is even a Top 10 NKy team. That tell's me alot. Injuries are something that happens to all teams, some worse than others, but, imo, you rank teams based on what there current roster looks like and how those particular teams are playing now. Once players return and results improve, then so do there rankings.
  2. Highlands doesn't have the overall team speed of Central.. They play fast and that makes them look faster than what they are. Central actually is that fast.. That doesn't mean I think Central is better than Highlands, just that I think they have more overall team speed.
  3. If you look at my previous post, I had Raceland ahead of Fairview and Harlan and alot of that was because of the Pikeville win. I wouldn't, however, give Raceland a higher rating, simply because they played a good Ashland team. I know they played with them for a half, but, that's why you play 4 qtrs. Had they been competitve on the final scoreboard, I would have given them a little more credit. I just used the Raceland/Fairview as a good example of why some would have Fairview higher and I wouldn't have much complaint. Matter of fact, I had Fairview higher up until this week.
  4. I think you can make a strong case for Williamsburg at #4 right now. The shallacking of a good Harlan team(36-0), a week after Harlan dismantled a pretty good Pikeville team. Harlan, 2 weeks later, plays LCA, a top 6 2a team down to the wire. I know you can't always compare scores, but, in state rankings, it's prevelent in just about everyones voting or perception. I believe in giving credit to teams who play a tougher schedule, but, if those teams get beat by 30+ points when they do, I don't neccessarily place them above a team who may have a better record playing a weaker schedule. I would then, tend to look at the recent history of teams over the weak/strong opponent comparison. Fairview/Raceland would be a good example.
  5. I can't understand the Holmes hate. Alot on here are saying Scott should be in the Top 10 and they lost to Holmes. Then noone questions Beechwood in the Top 10 and Holmes absolutely crushed them. Sure, they got hammered by SK in a 2 qtr game, but, rather than give SK credit, they say Holmes was a beat up team. Then say Holmes was crushed by SK is the reason they don't belong and say , well, Beechwood had alot of injuries when they played Holmes. Sounds to me like there's alot of talking out of both sides of the mouth going on. As an outsider looking in, what I see, basically, is 1) Noone wants to give SK credit for anything and look for every excuse in the world to downgrade there accomplishments. 2) Beechwood gets the benefit of the doubt because of injuries and Holmes doesn't. 3) Highlands will never be #2 in any NKy poll, regardless of what happens and CCath will always be #2, regardless of how good anyone else in the area may be. 4) NCC has to be hammered at least 3-4 times before they fall out of a NKy Top 10. 5) There are some teams that's always gonna get the love(NCC, BWood, Cooper, FTH, CCAth, Ryle) and others that's always gonna have to prove something (SKenton, Holmes, Campbell Co).
  6. I sure hope they represent Ky well. Would hate to see them lay an egg on National TV.
  7. No Holmes in the Top 10. Didn't they pretty much manhandle Beechwood a couple of weeks ago?
  8. Both these teams will make good runs in there respective classes..May see both in BGreen even.
  9. Central wins big in this one. Western hasn't seen and won't see speed like the Jackets possess.
  10. 5 - Central 3 - S.Kenton 3 - Mayfield 1 - Boyle Co 1 - Anderson Co 1 - Conner 1 - Ballard 1 - ACS 1 - Hazard 1 - Butler Co TB - 62
  11. Little surprised by this outcome. Not so much that SW won, but, that they held Rsville scoreless.
  12. Coach Morris not happy with the defensive effort. Can't be too unhappy with the offense though. Overall, a good win and the Cards were pretty much in control throughout.
  13. 3 plays later, Cardinals score.. PAT is good.. 38-14.. That should do it.. Solid win for the Cardinals..
  14. Jackson picks up 12 , Brown picks up 12, Mills picks up 12 on 3 consecutive plays. 2 plays later Jackson scores, but, a holding penalty brings it back.
  15. Murray tries an onside kick, but, the Cardinals recover it.
  16. Dillon Boone breaks a big run for a TD, PAT is good... 31-14 Mayfield leads... Score looks a little more respectable, but, most likely, too little, too late, as there's just under 4:00 left in the game.
  17. As play resumes with 2:49 to go in 3rd qtr, Mayfield eats almost 6 minutes off the clock, but, has to settle for a FG...9:00 left in the game, it's now 31-7 Cardinals.
