  1. The storybook career of Jeriah Hightower comes to an end after a 184 yard performance against a very stingy Johnson Central run defense. Hightower's last outing made him the all-time leading rusher in Madisonville North Hopkins (MNHS) history, breaking the 50 year old record of Sonny Collins (former UK record holder prior to Benny Snell). Jeriah finished the season with 3,001 yards, which also is the single season record for MNHS, and ranks 8th all-time in Kentucky state history. Hightower has ran for 6,343 yards in his career, placing him 18th on the all-time career rushing list. Congratulations to this young man for the stellar career that he has had, especially since he did it while carrying a 3.8 GPA.
  2. The Maroons have most of the gang back for another season, looking to improve on last season's 10-3 region runner-up finish that saw them just barely fall short against eventual state champion Franklin-Simpson. They'll meet a Union County team that went 7-4, but one of those seven wins was a stunner on the road against that same Madisonville team, winning 14-13. Can the Braves turn everyone's heads again?
  3. The Maroons have stayed on track since a surprising margin in their opening loss to Owensboro. They enter at 2-1, knocking off Murray 29-15 a week ago. They meet 2-0 Union County, who knocked off Madisonville 28-14 last season en route to a 5-0 start. This is the last warmup before district play for Madisonville - will they go in on the right foot?
  4. Another year, another crushing blowout in Week 1 for the Maroons. You have to go back to 2014 to find the last time Madisonville won their season opener, and they've lost the last four by an average of 30.5 PPG. The latest was a 41-13 drubbing by a resurgent Owensboro squad. Jeriah Hightower was a bright spot, rushing for 131 yards on 19 attempts. Marshall County presents a get-right game, despite the Marshals' 34-12 win over Fort Campbell. Madisonville won their matchup 42-29 a season ago, kicking off a span that saw them win five of six games. Will we see a similar result this year?
  5. The Maroons stayed clutch with a 15-12 win over Christian County last week to move to 7-2. Madisonville has won their last two games by a combined 7 points. It makes the 14-0 win over Hopkinsville that preceded it look like a blowout. Nevertheless, the Maroons have won five in a row, and appear to be overwhelming favorites to make it six in a row when they visit Fort Campbell. Madisonville dominated in a 37-6 win over Fort Campbell last year, and the Falcons are just 1-8 this year, out of the playoff hunt. It is at Fort Campbell - do they have a prayer?
  6. The Maroons took to the road to exorcise the demons of 2017, this time pulling out the narrow victory over a Logan County team that victimized them a year ago. With the win, Madisonville completed an unbeaten run in District 1, and they'll stay the heck away from Franklin-Simpson until the region finals. They enter at 6-2, and will take on a Christian County team that they haven't taken down since a 20-0 win in 2011. Christian County has stumbled to a 4-4 record, and their latest loss at home to Graves County condemned them to the 3 seed in their district. It'll earn them an early preview of their awful (read: INCREDIBLY difficult) district next season as they'll visit the loser of the South Warren/Bowling Green tilt in the first round. Last season they dominated the Maroons 49-12, but it'll be tough to match that. Can the Colonels slow the Maroons at all?
  7. It's do or die time for the Tigers. They enter this game with the exact record they had a season ago at 1-4, but are light one starting quarterback in Javier Bland. The Tigers have felt the absence, and we will see what they have after a bye week before this crucial district game. Madisonville is also jockeying for position in District 1, already at 2-0 in district play as part of their 4-2 record. Win here, and they set up a revenge district title game against Logan County on October 12th. Will Madisonville take Hopkinsville's place in the rankings?
  8. Two weeks ago, the unbeaten season came to an end for Hoptown at the hands of rival Christian County. Initially, this game looked like it would be a de facto district title game, but Madisonville continues to founder through a rebuilding season, and the latest loss to Calloway County could put them on the outs for a home playoff game. Do the Tigers roll or can the Maroons salvage their season?
  9. The Tigers enter off a bye week ready to begin thrashing their district rivals, and Madisonville is up first. The Tigers are 4-1 after a loss to rival Christian County (still inexplicable), while Madisonville is just 1-5 and lost to Calloway County. A season ago the records were the same, and the result was 45-14 in favor of Hopkinsville. Will we see a repeat?
  10. All-Time Series - Tied 2-2 First meeting for these teams since the 2009 playoffs, a 39-14 Warren Central victory. That game was the only victory on the field for the Dragons in the series, winning by retroactive forfeit in a 1987 playoff meeting. This is their first neutral site meeting. Who wins this game? Thoughts?
  11. Series History: Madisonville North Hopkins leads 2-0 Series at Madisonville North Hopkins: Madisonville North Hopkins leads 1-0 Playoff Meetings: 11/4/2011 - at Madisonville North Hopkins 24 Allen County-Scottsville 14 11/2/2012 - Madisonville North Hopkins 21 at Allen County-Scottsville 6 For the third straight year, these two teams meet in the first round of the playoffs. Those are the only times these two have ever squared off against each other, and the first two have not gone the way the Patriots would like. Can they get over the hump or is it wait til next year?
