  1. The Tigers started 0-2 just like 2017, but took the first step in showing that 2018 is a different year in knocking off Caldwell County 35-20 in the battle of the Tigers. That brings them to their rivalry game with Christian County, who also enter at 1-2. Christian County is coming off a surprising loss to Henderson County (28-7), and their lone win was in a dogfight against the very same Caldwell County team Hopkinsville just beat. Hopkinsville hasn't beaten Christian County since 2014, but is this the year?
  2. The Maroons took to the road to exorcise the demons of 2017, this time pulling out the narrow victory over a Logan County team that victimized them a year ago. With the win, Madisonville completed an unbeaten run in District 1, and they'll stay the heck away from Franklin-Simpson until the region finals. They enter at 6-2, and will take on a Christian County team that they haven't taken down since a 20-0 win in 2011. Christian County has stumbled to a 4-4 record, and their latest loss at home to Graves County condemned them to the 3 seed in their district. It'll earn them an early preview of their awful (read: INCREDIBLY difficult) district next season as they'll visit the loser of the South Warren/Bowling Green tilt in the first round. Last season they dominated the Maroons 49-12, but it'll be tough to match that. Can the Colonels slow the Maroons at all?
  3. Here is a video of Tyrik Edwards of Christian County dunking over an Evansville Central defender to cap the win 80-74. https://www.instagram.com/p/-zxb2NsOTn/
  4. Series History: Bowling Green leads 18-7 Series at Bowling Green: Bowling Green leads 11-1 Playoff Meetings: 11/20/2009: Bowling Green 28 at Christian County 14 11/12/2010: at Christian County 14 Bowling Green 10 11/9/2012: at Bowling Green 31 Christian County 17 For the fourth time in five years these two teams will meet in the playoffs, and this is the third straight time it comes in the second round. The 2010 matchup won by Christian County is the last time Bowling Green lost to anyone, anywhere, at any time. The two have met at El Donaldson Stadium only four times since 1981, and the Purples have won six straight games there against the Colonels. You have to go back to a 21-16 decision in 1977 to find the one and only time the Colonels managed a win at Bowling Green. In all, Bowling Green has won 8 of 9 from Christian County dating back to a loss in 1982. This year's edition is not a typical Christian County team. They enter at just 5-6 and struggled to put away a Barren County team they beat by 48 just two years ago. While their losses have been to good teams, they have very little in the way of quality wins. That's something, of course, that Bowling Green has in spades during this year and their 40 game win streak. They coasted to the most lopsided 49-7 win you'll ever see in their first round matchup with Apollo. All the playoff meetings between these two have been relatively close as have their games in general, but this has the look of a total mismatch. Bowling Green may be more worried about whether Warren Central can knock off Graves County to grant them a home game next week rather than a 2.5 hour trip west.

  15. The Cols have been outscored 99-0 in their last two elimination games. Margin shocks me. Winner not so much
