  1. Ok lets not cut down the nets yet boys.........This is a win over Beechwood not over anybody who would remotely make the regional tournament, which the Bluebirds should..................
  2. This is a tough situation for an educator I have respected and worked with for years in Coach B. Because it is him I feel that he will make the right decisions. Can someone please list the weight classes and the members from Campbell who are going to represent the team at regionals? Thanks
  3. The only "hatin on the Birds" goes on during football season and that is out of jealousy more than anything else. I would venture to guess most people enjoy playing Highlands in basketball and are not too much afraid of a team that is 7-15 and the combined record of the 7 teams they have beaten are 58-100. Which of course include all those stellar victories against those Class A teams (Sayre, Bellevue, Bracken, Walton and lest we forget the 1 - 15 Seven Hills team).
  4. And your multiple posting of shots (in a couple different threads) at Newport about players, where they are coming from, eligibility, etc. is kind of tiresome.
  5. Well then I guess Highlands had an abberation against NCC playing them close????? And evidently the Bluebirds have "played like crap" several nights this year. What is there record again?
  6. Again I am not sold on Highlands being that much better than Dayton..................Now I know they should be and can be but that would not surprise me if Dayton hung tough with them. Highlands size will obviously be a problem for Dayton but if they can spread them out and Highlands is having one of their play no defense, miss a ton of free throws, sub constantly, and turn the ball over games..........it could be interesting...................Or Highlands may very well win both games on their side of the bracket by 30+ points............
  7. Well do not let facts get in the way of a good discussion then. Better do a little research and have some insight before making statements.
  8. Very inaccurate but some people are just looking for a rise.........Any coach of a girls varsity program will tell you they will scrimmage their middle school boys teams and cannot beat them. Seriously come on man.
  9. I think this is such a tough sell at the high school level. Too many variables including size of school, talent level you get year in and year out, etc. I think you need to be able to see more than wins and loses. For my money Mike Code is the coach I think could go to any program and have an immediate impact on the quality of play at that school, regardless if it was a Boone County or a Calvary. Therefore I think he is the best in the area. Coach Faust is one of the better in game coaches according to other coaches so he needs to rank near the top. Looking at small school coaches I think you need to look at who maximizes talent and does "more with less." In that regard I know it is on the outskirts but Jon Jones at Gallatin has been knocking off the big boys for years and has built one heck of a program. Two up and coming coaches that while I am going off hearsay that are trying hard to build programs are Jim Hicks at Bellevue and Mike Walls at Silver Grove. I saw our team play Silver Grove earlier in the year and I know in talking to some of their parents they are starting no seniors and maybe only one junior. I think they have 2 8th graders and at least three freshmen playing varsity. Bellevue I have not seen but have been told that they are becoming a much better team under the first year coach and that they are very young as well. I am hoping in the near future that our coach Aric Russell gets our program going in the direction that I think he can. He may be at this point very underrated even after winning a regional title.
  10. Score closer than I think many would of thought. I have not yet seen dayton play but heard they can play decent this year. How did the game go as far as Dayton hanging with St. Henry? "Q" any thoughts about Dayton?
  11. I do not follow the program that close as my kids are in the Campbell County school system and play for those teams. But to bad mouth Dayton in my opinion and act as if the Highlands team is light years ahead of them would, to me, be very short sighted considering the few teams Highlands has beaten and the talent level of those three teams. My point was if you seeded Newport WOULD be the number 2 seed in the district whether it was a 2 point or 12 point win. Further Highlands would have to prove by beating Dayton on the court to be the three seed since both of them have beaten Bellevue. I never said the sky is falling in Ft. Thomas and could care less if it is, but your accusations against Newport coming from that area is quite comical. Your point about Newport shooting percentages.....well I would venture to guess the Highlands defense had a lot to do with their high shooting percentage. Look a 3-10 team is a bad team (right now). Every game cannot be just "luck" or "take out this kid or if we would have made free throws" excuses for losing. I would assume this team has enough talent to turn things around and I have no ill will towards them and hope the do start playing better....but currently they are just a team not playing good basketball.
  12. Seeding is voted on to begin the folowing year. Games have to be labeled as "district seeding games" and each team in the district must schedule each other. For example Bellevue does not play NCC and Dayton does not play NCC or Highlands. Not sure if either play Newport. Also Newport has just as much chance to draw in a bracket with Bellevue or Dayton. And if this really was a seeded district are your really that confident that Highlands beats Dayton?????? They beat Bellevue but the way they are playing now......well????
  13. This is the same Newport team that struggled to beat Bellevue and Williamstown. What is Highlands doing defensively that is allowing teams to put up over 60 points a game against them? Looking at the rest of the schedule , with them currently sitting at 3-10 according to the KHSAA website, they have a much better chance of losing 15-17 games then winning 10 games. Not what I would expect out of a Mike Flynn team at all.
  14. The question I have is why does it take so long for Highlands football players to round into basketball shape.......I mean Holy Cross, NCC, Trinity players all are playing at a high level. We keep hearing just wait they are really going to get it going...........Well...........Once January hits and you do not "have it going" that does not bode well at all.
  15. OK I cannot stand this in every thread...............Just because someone predicts a blow out we always get the "maybe we should just not show up and play syndrome." A prediction is just that; please just because some one predicts a blow out does not mean they do not respect your program or that they do not think your team has talent. It is just their opinion and we do not need the "poor us" attitude. And yes you can find a Somerset poster stating this, a Beechwood poster stating this, etc.
  16. ABC2 I believe is academically ineligible due to failing his spelling tests in the first quarter.
  17. I do not believe there is an actual back up running back to JJ.............
  18. This is a game I would not mind seeing as far as second round match ups are concerned. Now I have never seen either team play but it seems that bth teams are playing good football.
  19. Wonder if Carroll coach thinks they should be winning
  20. What a shame! definitely along the lines of a Marcus Dupree story for this area. Kip Mason was mentioned and as far as "could have been's" he was indeed a fun running back to watch, but his size really would have been a downfall at the collegiate level. Now I thought he played baseball in college somewhere as evidently he was an excellent catcher.
  21. Yes I agree but 8/5 is one thing..................10 dollar tickets........wow!!!!
  22. I asssume in Kentucky the state sets the prices as well?
  23. Since a lot of us do not know who he is please fill us in and what happened to him......................
  24. Well I read that article and I guess he thought they would not play again?????? This year is the third time in four years!
