  1. Ok first please check your statement as the KHSAA and the NKMSAA have nothing to do with each other!!!!! The KHSAA has no such rule in place. The Northern Ky. Middle School Athletic Association can enforce a rule but the KHSAA does not apply itself to middle school sports (why it is called the Kentucky HIGH School Athletic Association). Nor does it apply itself to middle school students. Which is why a student can play a varsity sport at school A in the 8th grade and go to a high school that is not a feeder school for school A without any penalty. If the NKMSAA does not want to allow middle school players to play both then that is their choice but do not mix the fact that this is a KHSAA rule; it is NOT.
  2. I do not follow the program that close as my kids are in the Campbell County school system and play for those teams. But to bad mouth Dayton in my opinion and act as if the Highlands team is light years ahead of them would, to me, be very short sighted considering the few teams Highlands has beaten and the talent level of those three teams. My point was if you seeded Newport WOULD be the number 2 seed in the district whether it was a 2 point or 12 point win. Further Highlands would have to prove by beating Dayton on the court to be the three seed since both of them have beaten Bellevue. I never said the sky is falling in Ft. Thomas and could care less if it is, but your accusations against Newport coming from that area is quite comical. Your point about Newport shooting percentages.....well I would venture to guess the Highlands defense had a lot to do with their high shooting percentage. Look a 3-10 team is a bad team (right now). Every game cannot be just "luck" or "take out this kid or if we would have made free throws" excuses for losing. I would assume this team has enough talent to turn things around and I have no ill will towards them and hope the do start playing better....but currently they are just a team not playing good basketball.
  3. Seeding is voted on to begin the folowing year. Games have to be labeled as "district seeding games" and each team in the district must schedule each other. For example Bellevue does not play NCC and Dayton does not play NCC or Highlands. Not sure if either play Newport. Also Newport has just as much chance to draw in a bracket with Bellevue or Dayton. And if this really was a seeded district are your really that confident that Highlands beats Dayton?????? They beat Bellevue but the way they are playing now......well????
  4. This is the same Newport team that struggled to beat Bellevue and Williamstown. What is Highlands doing defensively that is allowing teams to put up over 60 points a game against them? Looking at the rest of the schedule , with them currently sitting at 3-10 according to the KHSAA website, they have a much better chance of losing 15-17 games then winning 10 games. Not what I would expect out of a Mike Flynn team at all.
  5. The question I have is why does it take so long for Highlands football players to round into basketball shape.......I mean Holy Cross, NCC, Trinity players all are playing at a high level. We keep hearing just wait they are really going to get it going...........Well...........Once January hits and you do not "have it going" that does not bode well at all.
  6. OK I cannot stand this in every thread...............Just because someone predicts a blow out we always get the "maybe we should just not show up and play syndrome." A prediction is just that; please just because some one predicts a blow out does not mean they do not respect your program or that they do not think your team has talent. It is just their opinion and we do not need the "poor us" attitude. And yes you can find a Somerset poster stating this, a Beechwood poster stating this, etc.
  7. ABC2 I believe is academically ineligible due to failing his spelling tests in the first quarter.
  8. Personally I think The Miller's Tale from Chaucer would be a perfect story for him to read.............
  9. I do not believe there is an actual back up running back to JJ.............
  10. This is a game I would not mind seeing as far as second round match ups are concerned. Now I have never seen either team play but it seems that bth teams are playing good football.
  11. Saw the purple 7th grade Camels on Sunday soundly defeat St. Joe's while the gold 7th grade Camels had little trouble with the 7/8 grade St. Peter and Paul team. In between those two games (would have been much nicer if they were back to back whoever is doing the scheduling for this tourney () the 7/8 Silver Grove team playing basically a total of 6 players destroyed a very tall Dayton 7/8 grade team. Gary Bertsch doing a fine job coaching the purple Camels and his son had an outstanding game. Brett Clark played very well for the gold Camel team running the show at the point. Silver Grove only had three players score points for them even though they put up 40. #10, #5 and Randy Koontz did all the scoring. This is an odd team as their guards did all the scoring and did all the rebounding (#10 and Koontz both had to be double figures in rebounding). Looking forward to watching these two 7th grade Camel teams playing more in this tourney. Unfortunately they play in different leagues in the regular season so I will not get to see both teams play that often!!!!!
  12. What a shame! definitely along the lines of a Marcus Dupree story for this area. Kip Mason was mentioned and as far as "could have been's" he was indeed a fun running back to watch, but his size really would have been a downfall at the collegiate level. Now I thought he played baseball in college somewhere as evidently he was an excellent catcher.
  13. I see nobody else validating whether he did these things or not. I think GT or Clyde would know if this is being floated around.
  14. Yes I agree but 8/5 is one thing..................10 dollar tickets........wow!!!!
  15. :ohbrother: Has he passed the first stage in the cannonization process? That being a martyr? Please read in an earlier post that the synthetic marijuana is out of your system after 72 hours. So it happened lets say Fri. 7:00. So by Monday the stuff is gone. GT and Clyde are the two best sources IMHO for this subject and everything they saying goes along with everything the Dixie administration is saying. Whether one wants to admit to it or not I think the majority of the people know the truth and know whether or not it fits the personality of the young athlete in question. To bury your head in the sand and say "no way" or try to say well I am not convinced need only read the e-mail sent by the principal.......Obviously he did not name names but the evidence that has been presented both publickly and what I have been told in confidence points that this is true.
  16. I asssume in Kentucky the state sets the prices as well?
  17. Since a lot of us do not know who he is please fill us in and what happened to him......................
  18. Well I read that article and I guess he thought they would not play again?????? This year is the third time in four years!
  19. Yeah All Tell......I agree. I think the worst they would have finished was 2nd in that district.
  20. What is this 7 degrees to Trinity??????? In all seriousness you cannot compare scores................If you are going to do that then just do one degree and compare the St. X score to Trinity from this year...........
  21. Ok I was just curious what teams did not make the playoffs this season.......... In Northern Kentucky we have 2 5 team districts (I think). Bishop Brossart finished 5th in the 2A district and is not in the playoffs. (NCC Holy Cross Lloyd Newport) Simon Kenton finished 5th in the 6A district but becomes the 4 seed for another district that evidently only has three teams and gets to play Trinity this Fri. What district only has the 3 teams? What other 5 team districts exist around the state?
  22. I do not think the issue that four teams from each district make the playoffs is the real problem with the playoff system. The 4 teams in is a carryover from the 4 class system. At that point you had districts with 6 or 7 teams. Also, certain districts were so much stronger that all 4 teams swept the opposing district. Now.....with 6 classes only a handful of teams throughout the state miss the playoffs and realistically this causes the blowouts. However.....you still have certain districts that will sweep all 4 games or at least win 3 out of the 4. The state needs to just cut the classes down and can still allow the 4 teams to make the playoffs per district.
  23. Just curious what makes you think this will happen based on schedules and performance this season?
