Highlands 59 Beechwood 42

Recommended Posts

Final from Beechwood.

Birds Jump out 17-2 on the Tigers behind a strong performance by 6'2 JR swingman Luke Turner. I believe he ended up with 25 pts and 11 boards which is right on time for Districts. This game could have been much worse but the subbing was done early and often by Highlands.

Nussbaum sat out for Beechwood but Soph sensation Drew Houliston alzó sat out for Highlands with a strained calf.

The substitution patterns are baffling. Hot hands get taken out and teams make runs on the Birds immediately after subs are made. It may be their undoing next week.

Turner seemed to be in the right spot all night long and his rebounding was very good. Birds need him to score and use his length while on the floor.

Well done LT now if the coach can get out of the way and let the boys play they can make a little run.

Seriously, can you give me the name of a coach that you are going to be satisfied with? First you start a thread about what is wrong with Highlands basketball and then you make this comment? I am with Stinky, leave the negative behind as the new season starts on Monday at Dayton. Stranger things have happened in the regional tourney.

You had to be there stinky seriously. Turner had 25 and only played 3 qtrs probably.

8-17 bro let's get it straight. Lol

It was a solid win but I would have let the dogs loose and buried them by 30. The team needs confidence going into the tournament and that would have hit the spot. Beechwood cut it to 8 at one point and that should have never happened. When you have your foot on someone's neck you break it you don't let them up. Onto Districts best of luck Birds.

I have to agree with Q the substitution patterns are baffling, and too numerous. I'm always rooting for the boys and nobody wants them to succeed more then me but IMO the coaching is suspect because they do have talent. Code, but we all know that not's happening.

Looks like "Cool Hand" Luke Turner had the "hot hand"! Maybe all season long, since the coach knew the FB players would be late... and really late by the time they rounded into hoops shape....he has played the season to season the players. (just a theory). But NOW it's time to ...as my old coach usd to say... "dance with the one that brung ya'". Here's to hoping the Birds can make a deep run to a regional title! It's WINNIN' TIME, BOYS!
