  1. I think that is the main reason they dropped UC to 9 this week. The committee can now say there is no reason to go to 8 to include a G5 schools. The strategy isn't hard to figure out. And I hope no one thinks the amount of teams will increase just because. Right now the conferences reveive 24 million to divy up. Until the money goes up the amount of teams isn't going to.
  2. Nor are you getting in with 12 of them. A G5 team isn't going. Period.
  3. And that's also the reasoning for putting them there. So when people get all up in arms and say we should have 8 teams in the committee could respond with a G5 school still wouldn't be in. UC wasn't going to get in becasue quite frankily the top 4 teams are pretty set. Alabama is in, Notre Dame is in, Clemson should win this weekend and they'll be in, and let's face it, Ohio State will steam roll Northwestern. What the committee has done the last two weeks however is bury them far enough down the rankings that if anarachy happens when they walk in next week they don't even have to consider them. I understand people are fustrated with this but plain and simple this is a members only club and if you aren't in a Power Five Conference you aren't invited. And it will never change.
  4. Uh, didn’t Mueller run a variation on a wing-T for a long while in Ft Thomas?? Offensive systems change and evolve, but they all have an element of history to them.
  5. Just looked it up. Gino makes $260,000 at UC. With the year they are having I would guess pay raises are coming for the whole staff in some way. I’d imagine if Fickell were to leave he would either clime to ladder more at UC or go with him to be an assistant at a Power 5 school. I guess anything is possible but I don’t see how Highlands would have the resources to pay that.
  6. You can add Georgia to that list as well. Every year a loss to someone they shouldn't lose to and the next big game they win will be their first one in 20 years or more. They've blown them all: Random middle of the year games, Cocktail Parties, SEC Championship Games, and National Championships.
  7. It took some time for him to turn things around at Holmes but Coach Nevels is definitely doing it the right way. Two years in a row they’ve been the one seed going into the playoffs. @theguru said it best a few weeks back when he said something along the lines of NKY football is better when Holmes is good.
  8. AJ would bring back pennies on the dollar because of: Age Contract- amount of money and no control over him past this season What is seen as declining production. They MIGHT get a 5th round pick for him at the deadline and some team is in it that has a lot of cap room and a injury at the position. As to the original question they have to find a way to draft well and early next spring. Also wouldn't hurt to not only pursue a couple top free agent OL but maybe even over pay to convince them to come. One thing people fail to realize is the amount of "street cred" Marvin had around the league and could convince free agents to come to Cincy for fair value. Zac Taylor is no where near his level when it comes to that.
  9. This is just me thinking, but I would imagine the playoffs get shortened in some way.
  10. San Diego has no chance unless they build a new stadium first. San Antonio is a possibility but they would have to build something other than the Alomodome. Also, the emperor of Irving would fight tooth and nail to keep a team from being there. St.Louis will forever be the city that owners dangle out there saying "build me a stadium or I am off to St. Louis." This is no different than what NBA Owners do with Seattle.
  11. This is good to see. While he wasn't in a full-fledged angry holdout it was also well known he wasn't playing a snap week one without a new deal.
  12. So he had a lot of options and evidently the one Duke offered was the best? That’s what I gather from all of this.
  13. I realize the paying of players is pretty common. But with a guy like ZW it honestly shouldn’t be a big deal. It’s a stupid rule that forced him to go to Duke in the first place.
  14. 9th region is only 3 counties total. 14 of 19 teams come from Kenton and Boone County.
  15. Former EKU Football player. I believe he’s been helping with the program for awhile.
  16. I believe 2018 Cov Cath and 2013 Holmes are the best two teams.
  17. Any word on a captain for the Pirates?
  18. Pendleton had a great game plan that involved running the clock but still being aggressive. Defensively they played really well, even out rebounding the Camels. Gross was the difference in the second half for Campbell County.
  19. Apparel and equipment outfitters have popped up all over the country. They usually come in with a pretty sweet deal for a couple years and then the taking care of stage is about over. Trouble is they ask schools to sign contracts that are 5 or more years long. The uniforms are ordered so far in advance that it really doesn’t matter who you use. The emergency situations however, especially with equipment, means schools need to have a company close that they have good a good relationship with. Could make for serious trouble if they don’t.
  20. The 38th plays home and home as well to determine seeding. The 37th just plays one game to determine seeding. The 39th is a draw.
  21. Pendleton seems to be playing well and they have played everyone tough. Are they a surprise in the 10th this year? Coach Elsbernd doing a pretty good job in his first year as a wildcat.
  22. Absolutely a great choice. Lions would be lucky to have a great young coach like him!!
  23. I say Mike Sizemore at Clay County is one of the best coaches in the state. He’s won at two schools that are not historically football schools.
  24. No way he double dribbled. The refs don’t care who wins, and they made the right call here. I’m impressed the game was this close though. Bracken played better than I expected. Twitter
