He retires from Central this year and is going to be on the coaching staff at Sayre.

Poynter would be a great choice. But he is retiring from Madison Central and going to coach at a private school on staff.

Scott Hires Justin Franklin as new Head Coach
Pi replied to Brcatz's topic in KY Football (High School)
I’m not attempting to call them a powerhouse. It just looked in the open job thread like the AD was inept and ignorant. This solid hire proves that he was patient and deserves more credit than he was given. -

A lot of posts in the open job thread need edited. Or crow eaten, this is a good, solid hire. Casey Fisk knows what he is doing. -
Years ago when I was talking with a NKY high school athletic director they made the comment to me that they day he hated the most was when his school hosted the NKYFL games. His stadium had a grass field and said it wasn't about the tearing up of the grass it was that the fans "tear up everything else." I found that very interesting.

As someone who has attended high school football games all of my life I can tell you I cringe when I see a bunch of dads standing on a fence line on Friday night. It varies from place to place, but it is rarely positive coming from that area. And without fail, the loudest of them all usually has the biggest tumbler in his hand.

Make it 32. And also, at 50 end the game. Let everyone go home.

I think if he was the answer this thread wouldn’t be 8 pages long. Fact is, he’s not.

Peacock is good for the Dan Patrick Show if you like him. Other than that, any subscription with them is just a waste of money. Just a bunch of channels with old reruns and movies that are B level at best.

I'd say Kozerski is likely retired. He stated when he stepped down that he was having a medical procedure and that he had pondered doing so for a few years.

Speculating. But, I would assume one of the reasons there haven't been interviews is because it's not clear what teaching openings there will be. In a school that takes athletics seriously, that's not a concern. But in a school where athletics (specifically football) is an afterthought by the higher ups? Makes sense. Also. The other side of the coin, just because no one knows interviews have taken place doesn't mean they haven't. Discretion isn't impossible.

Open Job: St. Henry (New Program)
Pi replied to Colonels_Wear_Blue's topic in KY Football (High School)
He does have an established relationship with the current "Director of Football" at SHDHS he and RJ Riegler are old Coach Hauck guys. -
My guess is coach has had enough and figured why not right here in front of everyone. This is either a huge mistake or very commendable, depending on how you see it. It also helps when a coach has been somewhere nearly 30 years. May be retirement eligible (if he already isn’t) and not worried about any repercussions.

He had it once before and willingly gave it up. I don't think he's interested.

I could be wrong, but if it was a varsity ejection I think it has to be a varsity suspension.

What's the name of that podcast? I'd be curious to listen.

So. Someone privately reached out to me. They tell me that my assesment of community support is wrong, that attendance was high this year, and a new stadium turf is in the works. So I retract my previous post. Could be a good chance!
-
I have a hard time envisioning this program continuing. Community support is low, administration doesn't seem to prioritize sports, participation in the youth leagues is low. What's the selling point here? Get your head beat in for a few years in this district until you move to another district where you'll lose more?

I really don’t think Highlands have to hang their head. That was a great game someone had to lose.

What will it take for a NKY 6A State title?
Pi replied to En Fuego Hombre's topic in KY Football (High School)
It would probably take another population boom in Boone County without another school being built, and I’m not sure that would even be enough. -
Should Semi-State be on neutral field?
Pi replied to Jumper_Dad's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think Neutral site is entirely reasonable. And it doesn't have to be a college. Play CCH vs PT in Etown, about 2.5 hours for each team. Play it at a high school with a turf field. Play Highlands vs Cooper at Thomas More or Holmes or Scott or something. Play Campbellsville v Pikeville in London. There's too many turf fields, too many decent stadiums, for kids to have to ride a bus 5 hours because of a wonky formula. -
I've heard some rumblings elsewhere that former Rowan County Offensive Coordinator Scooter Charles is a leading candidate for the job.

Ky Football officials the next three rounds
Pi replied to sportsdad316's topic in KY Football (High School)
It all comes from the regional assigner. They (and the association of the region) grade and review and evaluate. They also assign games accordingly. State crews are mostly working these last few weeks. But a few assigners were given a game or two to fill, and they are to choose their cream of the crop to work.
