  1. If the administration hasn’t called Eli Florer (best player in school history and currently an assistant at Holmes) every single day since Clouse resigned they don’t actually care about football. He’s the obvious and only choice.
  2. The community of Brooksville has struggled to embrace football, and the coaches (sans Sizemore. To my knowledge he's the only one on this list who actually lived in the county) have struggled to embrace the community. Lack of athletes, and other sports being completely unwilling to share and encourage multi-sport athletes doesn't help. Being in a brutal district may not make things better.
  3. This team should be loaded. Tate Rice is an excellent QB with plenty of weapons and a GREAT coach in Mike Sizemore.
  4. The 2002 Mason County team. Running clocked the AA state champs that year. Lost by 7 in a frigid battle in Ft Thomas for the semis.
  5. Are we sure it’s not a typo from the basketball job?
  6. In the last 2 years? assuredly, Mason County has paid attention to the Polar Bears, but the Polar Bears have talked FAR more about the Royals than the Royals have the Polar Bears. It's still a very lopsided relationship. But over the course of history? No. There isn't.
  7. I would venture to guess, that 99% of the time Mason County doesn't worry about Bracken. But Mason County has been living rent free in Bracken County's head since the day they joined a district together. Bracken thinks about Mason every 2.7 seconds. Mason thinks about Bracken when they're driving north on the AA.
  8. Being a good guy, and even being loyal… those are not qualifications for HC of a 5A program.
  9. Hard to picture Cal playing second fiddle to an average football program. If Cal leaves I don't know how much of the incoming class doesn't go to Kentucky, but I can guarantee that DJ Wagner doesn't end up in Lexington. But he might end up 60 miles west. That would be a real gut punch. Reed Sheppard will be at Kentucky no matter who the coach is. Kentucky does not recruit itself unless it is an in-state kid who has been told his whole life Kentucky is the only thing that matters. Especially in this day and age, kids could care less about program history. That is not the fault of Coach Cal either, it is like this in all aspects of life. Rupp Arena has never been the loudest arena in America, but what I can't get over lately is how empty it looks as well.
  10. In basketball every team makes it to the district tournament. This is the equivalent.
  11. This is mostly true. The people who "aren't entertained" forget what this is about. Kids. I'm sure a survey would get you a smattering of answers-- but given the choice between ending the season and one more week? I assume the majority choose one more week.
  12. I'm trying to imagine what I could do with a $31,000 bar tab.
  13. I don’t think anyone realizes how massive this is. It’s not the Frankfort of old, but that’s an amazing accomplishment for the Polar Bears.
  14. FWIW I heard several bluebird players talking at EKU on Saturday that he was surely coming to Ft Thomas.
  15. How does this affect Notre Dame playing ACC teams?
  16. When you go to college most of the time you tend to know what you want to do. Some don’t, but most do. I never understood the gen Ed’s people have to take. Those are nothing more than money makers for the school. The University 101’s of the world are especially awful. You learn nothing, normally a senior at the university “teaches” the class and it’s just a waste a time. But it’s full price. Part of the student loan debt (justifiably so) is that classes are designed to make money, not educate.
  17. If you are ordering 11 separate orders for a quick lunch that needs to be called in ahead of time.
  18. I think a name that has to be floating around Covington right now is Sam Elsbernd. He's the current coach at Pendleton County, but a Bulldog Alum, and former assistant. His teams play hard, and with the right talent he could really take Holmes somewhere.
  19. I think it was with the old field. But the old field also used a corner of the track (left side of picture) in the grass days.
  20. I heard rumor that the retirement wasn't his idea. I know nothing but speculation, but he's a great coach and this sport is better with him in it.
  21. Is Dave Buchanan being mentioned for this job?
  22. Funny. Holmes has all of those, (great service, tons of food options, easy to get to from most of the 10th...) and people still complaining.
  23. If the average attendance for the next 3 years exceeds Holmes capacity they won’t be able to have it there. (I don’t remember the exact numbers, but Holmes was already close to under…) But If this year ranks the average? We’ll be back in Covington. If they want to avoid this again, the 10th region faithful will pack the place out, and then pack out the next 2 tournaments as well.
