  1. Evidently there is a rule in Volleyball - this happened a few years ago.
  2. "Hauler Hopping" great!! Yes - Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
  3. I always thought they should have done a spin-off with Jake in the Army. Kind of like a modern Gomer Pyle.
  4. I would like to see Zimmer in the head coach role at Minnesota on Hard Knocks.
  5. Mart Smith Tweeted "DA: Kevin Ward was under the influence of marijuana." and "DA says toxicology evidence shows that marijuana in Kevin Ward's system was enough to impair judgment" I think that should have been released earlier.
  6. I have a group 6-10 people that go over and tailgate. When everyone starts into the stadium we drive to my home and watch the game on my deck outside. Fire up the grill, play cornhole, drink cheap beer (that taste exactly the same as the $9.00 beers at PBS). At my house we are even permitted to drink after the 3rd quarter and beyond! I also have 2 TV's so we can watch the Red Zone Channel to keep up with the rest of the league. I have yet to witness a fight or put up with other obnoxious fans, I don't get searched, I don't need a JERK line, I don't have to wait in line for the bathroom, my food is much better and cheaper, parking is free, we are "kid friendly" and I don't have to wait in traffic. I, for one, think that the modern stadiums are too big. With the "home experience" so much better than the "game experience" I don't understand why people go to the games.
  7. There might be a "Sam Rule" just like the "Rooney Rule" in place.
  8. I was also surprised by the lack of betting windows and self serve tote machines. I was told they are looking towards the future when more and more people use their tablets, cell phones etc.. to bet. That's what I do, I use an on-line account and bet on the mobile site on my phone.
  9. I also went Saturday - had great luck with the ponies - terrible luck in the Casino. If something doesn't happen with the Casino laws in KY, Turfway is doomed! I thought the place was great!
  10. Don't lock the doors on Turfway just yet - we are only a couple years removed from Animal Kingdom winning the Spiral and it is a popular track for bettors across the country (OTB, TVG, On-Line etc.). The facilities definitely needs some attention, specifically the restrooms, but there is still a market for a track like Turfway. The place has good crowds on the weekends and the OTB is always packed. I believe that it is inevitable that some form of expanded gambling will pass the narrow minded KY legislature eventually and if Turfway can limp along until then they will survive. On that note, the window is closing quickly.
  11. I vote 2005-2008. The 2008 is one of the best team in NCC history. They beat a Simon Kenton team (37-15) that went to the 6A Championship game. Beat a Beechwood team (31-20) that won the 1A State Championship. Lost to CovCath on a last second “fluke” catch and lost the state finial to a very special Fort Campbell team on a last minute trick play. They were 2 plays away from an undefeated championship season with tough competition.
  12. A friend of mine posted this on Facebook: "There is a guy standing by the the on ramp to 471 S near Moock Rd. with a sign that reads:"4 black thugs loose in Ft. Thomas" He had 2 cops talking to him so he might not be there long.
  13. These fine upstanding citizens are from the wonderful new housing development on Mock Rd. in Wilder / Southgate. I will not allow my daughter to walk home from school from St. Therese because of this and it is not going to get better anytime soon!
  14. That 2009 team had one of the toughest schedules that Newcath has had over the past 10 years! How I judge a coach is - has the team won a game in which ther were not supposed to win? I don't think that in coach Evistion's 3 years they did win a game that they were an underdog, I know they lost a few when they were the favorite. Not a knock on Coach Eviston, I think he did a great job and my boys are better men for having played for him, but I don't think he belongs on a pedestal either. Coach Lyons would be a huge mistake as head coach!!
  15. Dan Wagner started coaching at his alma mater around 1984 as a freshman / JV / Varsity assistant and JV Baseball Coach, went to Campbell County High School in the early 90’s then returned to Newcath in 2000 and has been DC ever since. He may have been at another school in Ohio for a year or so but I can’t remember. He was a finalist for Head Coach when Bob Schneider left and I for one was very surprised when he returned as DC when he was passed over for the job. I can’t think of a better replacement that will remain at Newcath for many years. I think he is currently a teacher at Campbell County Middle School.
  16. I keep hearing about government pensions for the post office,,,,they have a 401k like the private sector. The post office needs to go to a 5 day delivery, remove the 75 year funding of the health care mandate and it would be ok for the short term. For the long term they need a new business model and union concessions to make it more efficient. As for their error rate, I deal with every freight company around the world and there are some good ones and bad ones and I would rate the US Post Office as better than the average and way below the average on cost. Also, if the Post Office went private I would venture to guess that more tax dollars would be spent on subsidies than what is coming out of the general fund now.
  17. I have been around the NKYFL for the better part of 20 years and I will say this, good riddance NFF! When there have been problems in that league, 9 times out of 10 it has something to do with that organization. The problems that occurred this year were not misinterpretations, misunderstandings or miscommunication; it was flat out cheating. They may fit in better in the Cincinnati league.
  18. Roger Goodell – No, he just works for the owners. The Owners – Partially yes, it is in their DNA not to back down from a fight. They will fight as long as it doesn’t hurt their bank accounts to much. The Real refs – Partially yes, it seems they are not backing down from wanting a fully funded pension. Is there any other profession that gives part time employees a fully funded pension? But as I see it now, the referees have a lot of leverage because the fans are on their side (never thought that would ever happen!!). The loyal fans – No, the tickets are, for the most part, already sold. I don’t think the owners care if you show up, they already cashed the check.
  19. I'm going to be on a houseboat soon so I will be doing some chumming to see if I can get pic's of the beast!
  20. Freshwater Sharks It's on the internet so it must be true!!:eek: The longest freshwater shark on record was found in Deep Creek Lake in the western panhandle of Maryland in 1983. It measured 9 feet 4 inches in length and weighed 512 pounds. The only other freshwater shark over 8 feet in length was found in Lake Cumberland, Kentucky in 2001. It was 8 feet 7 inches long and weighed 428 pounds and was thought to be responsible for all 3 shark attacks in that lake that summer.
  21. When I was a kid my father used to say "Our greatest hopes and our worst fears are seldom realized." Our worst fears have been realized tonight. They have now said there were 11 hostages; two were killed in their rooms yesterday morning, nine were killed at the airport tonight. They're all gone. —McKay, 1972
  22. Yes, I've seen them doing some testing and it looks pretty cool! A friend of mine works for Rozie's Fireworks.
  23. This year the Reds are going to flames come out of the smoke stacks after strikeouts and homeruns.
