Is Eddie Eviston out at Newport Central Catholic?

Featured Replies

The word coming for several sources out of Campbell County is that Coach Eviston is leaving NCC for the Offensive Coordinator job at Georgetown College.

Anyone?

If true, congrats to Eddie. He has certainly carried on the Breds tradition in an exemplary manner.

I fault no one for striving for a dream AND at the same time making a better income.

The other question I have if this is all true is what is current Georgetown OC Craig Mullins going to do?

I understand Coach Eviston addressed the team this morning that he is in fact leaving NCC.

Additionally, I understand Coach Mullins is headed to Morehead State.

Now the question is, who get's the NCC job?

I am not sure on my spelling here but everyone I talked to said Rick Wagner. Is that right NCC peeps?

Is he their DC or is he outside the program?

Smart move by Eviston. Go out on top and seize opportunity. I foresee some challenges in the next few years for NCC football. Numbers are down a little and so is talent. NCC will be good, let there be no doubt. State title good, I have strong doubt.

Eviston is an excellent coach who I believe has higher aspirations in coaching, so this is a good move. I think Georgetown is just the next step and look for Eviston to move to an even higher level as his career progresses. Best of luck.

Dan Wagner? He's been their DC since 2000. He's been a huge part of the program and its decade of success.

Good luck to Eddie. What more can you do as a head coach? He's 33 moving on to college. It's a good time to do it and a logical step while he's young. I'm not sure what his end goal is, but I figured that it was much higher than the high school level.

Dan Wagner started coaching at his alma mater around 1984 as a freshman / JV / Varsity assistant and JV Baseball Coach, went to Campbell County High School in the early 90’s then returned to Newcath in 2000 and has been DC ever since. He may have been at another school in Ohio for a year or so but I can’t remember. He was a finalist for Head Coach when Bob Schneider left and I for one was very surprised when he returned as DC when he was passed over for the job. I can’t think of a better replacement that will remain at Newcath for many years. I think he is currently a teacher at Campbell County Middle School.

Congrats to Coach Eviston!

I am with everyone else, Congrats to Coach Eviston!!!

Also, can anyone give us a run down of Coach E's yearly totals at NCC? I bet when we all look at it, it will be ultra-impressive.
