The Herald-Leader's Mike Fields and his 12 "Timeless" Kentucky Football Rivalries from 1993
Purple; Agreed on the Bowling Green vs. Franklin-Simpson games of the 1990s. I was living in Franklin during that time. Both teams were in the same Class for several years (3A) and even when the Wildcats dropped down to 2A they were still great games!

Manual at South Warren Predictions/Updates
Great write up (again). Should be a great game. Pulling for the Spartans.

4A RPI Rankings - 2024
Agreed. I was being sarcastic. Seems liked the KHSAA was trying to reinvent the wheel when they developed their own RPI system. Their system really discourages playing out of state games. Beating #12 nationally ranked St. Edward has the same value as beating a terrible Metro team here in Nashville.

4A RPI Rankings - 2024
The #14 Nationally Ranked team is ranked third in their Class in Kentucky. Makes perfect sense to me. Really? I hear there's something called CalPreps or MaxPreps available that does something very similar to this RPI system.

Boyle County 56 Scott County 26
Agreed. I’m assuming Scott County still runs a version of the Wing-T. Living in Tennessee we see it often. If you’re not used to playing against it and the opponent runs it well, it can be a challenge to defend.

BluegrassPreps.com Class 4A Football Rankings 9/9
Couldn't agree more. Boyle stuns the #12 team in Nation and gets the same value as beating a hapless Metro Nashville team from here in TN. Makes zero logic. As you said, use CalPreps! Please!!!

Boyle County vs. Lexington Christian Academy Predictions/Updates (8/24) (Rafferty's Bowl)
I watched the Boyle vs. Owensboro scrimmage and I thought both Boyle QBs have potential. Murphy started and played the entire first half. Had an INT but he throws a good ball. Turner came in later and he is a very athletic runner. It’s hard to replace a two year Championship QB in Dawson but IMO they will be fine. With all the offensive weapons the Rebels have the QB doesn’t have to be a superstar. Just take care of the ball and run the offense, getting the ball to your playmakers.

Great write up Purple88 (as usual!). Should be a Classic!

4A Preseason Rankings?
I agree Boyle is the team to beat but the RPI could definitely factor into where the latter round games are played. As a side note I attended the Greenwood 7x7 tournament (excellent) and some of my fellow fans (I'm a Kentuckian living in TN) were commenting we should schedule some of the Bowling Green area teams instead of four TN 6A programs that bring very few folks to the games. I commented that because of the KHSAA RPI calculations, Kentucky teams would probably be reluctant to play us. I think it's great that Boyle is traveling to OH to play but just like last season playing Gibson Southern (IN) cost them the home field advantage in the semis. Even if the Rebels win in Ohio and win out they may be a similar situation this season.

Greenwood High School 7v7 Tournaments - July 11 and 12
Great tournament. Shout out to Greenwood coaching staff for a job well done. Pleasure to finally meet you Purple88! Hopefully catch a Bowling Green game this season.

Lots of great matchups. Tilghman v. Bowling Green should be fun. Heading up there this afternoon.

2024 Boyle County Rebels
Of course comparing 2023 to 2024 may be comparing apples to oranges, but looks like Boyle would have been very competitive. Still, a Big challenge!

2024 Boyle County Rebels
As I understand the KHSAA RPI procedure, If Boyle beats St. Edward they will get the same RPI value as defeating an average Ohio/Tennessee/Indiana team. SMH. For what it's worth CalPreps.com calculated a 9-point St. Edwards win in 2023. This will be a Big challenge for the Rebels.

Danville to stop playing Boyle County after the 2025 season - (Games stopped after the 2023 season)
As someone who lived in Boyle many years ago (when Danville was the top program) I hate to see where the Admirals are now. Hopefully the Ads will rebuild their program and return to their former status. However, I completely understand them not playing Boyle as the game is now meaningless. It was fun when both programs were at the top of the pile in "Title Town."

KHSAA meeting: Running clock change
Lowered it to 30 points here in Tennessee (has to be 2nd half) last season but IMO 28 would be enough. Curious on how many teams have won after falling behind by 28? The thing I like about the Kentucky rule is that once the running clock is engaged it remains. Here if the trailing team cuts the margin to less than 30, the clock goes back to original procedure.

2025-2026 Football Realignment
Agreed. CalPreps.com seems to be the source to use. Boyle beats Gibson Southern who ends up making the semifinals in their class in Indiana and gets the same rating as beating a winless team in the same state. A Kentucky team could beat a TN powerhouse such as Murfreesboro Oakland or a weak Metro Nashville team and get the same rating. Crazy!

KHSAA - A flaw found in the implementation of the RPI double play down exemption for football
Concerning the first point of rescheduling Playoff games due to a shortage of game officials, this is quickly becoming an issue. Here in Tennessee, 1/2 of the Regions (Districts in Kentucky) must play their last Regular season game on Thursday and these same Regions must also play their first round game on the following Thursday. The 3rd and 4th place teams in our Region #7 (suburbs of Nashville) will have to travel 3 1/2 hours away to the Memphis area (Region #8) on a Thursday night. They should be home by 2am or so Friday morning, ready to go to class at 7:30. I fear this shortage of referees situation is only going to get worse.
