Of course comparing 2023 to 2024 may be comparing apples to oranges, but looks like Boyle would have been very competitive. Still, a Big challenge!

As I understand the KHSAA RPI procedure, If Boyle beats St. Edward they will get the same RPI value as defeating an average Ohio/Tennessee/Indiana team. SMH. For what it's worth CalPreps.com calculated a 9-point St. Edwards win in 2023. This will be a Big challenge for the Rebels.

As someone who lived in Boyle many years ago (when Danville was the top program) I hate to see where the Admirals are now. Hopefully the Ads will rebuild their program and return to their former status. However, I completely understand them not playing Boyle as the game is now meaningless. It was fun when both programs were at the top of the pile in "Title Town."

KHSAA meeting: Running clock change
Maroon Beech replied to Tigerpride94's topic in KY Football (High School)
Lowered it to 30 points here in Tennessee (has to be 2nd half) last season but IMO 28 would be enough. Curious on how many teams have won after falling behind by 28? The thing I like about the Kentucky rule is that once the running clock is engaged it remains. Here if the trailing team cuts the margin to less than 30, the clock goes back to original procedure. -
Agreed. CalPreps.com seems to be the source to use. Boyle beats Gibson Southern who ends up making the semifinals in their class in Indiana and gets the same rating as beating a winless team in the same state. A Kentucky team could beat a TN powerhouse such as Murfreesboro Oakland or a weak Metro Nashville team and get the same rating. Crazy!

Wayne County at Boyle County Predictions/Updates
Maroon Beech replied to Rebel's topic in KY Football (High School)
Actually going to make it this game tonight. -
Concerning the first point of rescheduling Playoff games due to a shortage of game officials, this is quickly becoming an issue. Here in Tennessee, 1/2 of the Regions (Districts in Kentucky) must play their last Regular season game on Thursday and these same Regions must also play their first round game on the following Thursday. The 3rd and 4th place teams in our Region #7 (suburbs of Nashville) will have to travel 3 1/2 hours away to the Memphis area (Region #8) on a Thursday night. They should be home by 2am or so Friday morning, ready to go to class at 7:30. I fear this shortage of referees situation is only going to get worse.

From a Kentuckian living in Tennessee: In what round of the 2023 playoffs does RPI become a factor? In 2022, looks like it wasn't used until the Semis except for Home field (example: District champion LexCath playing at Runners-Up Boyle). In 2023, will the teams play against another District in the first two rounds and then the RPI will seed teams in Round 3? Example: In Class 4A, if Boyle and Corbin win their respective Districts and win their first two playoff games, will they play in Round 3 (District #7 vs. District #8) or will RPI rankings determine where and whom they play. Signed, Confused in Tennessee. -

As someone who has done play-by-play for more than 15 years, it's harder than it looks. IMO, the kids at Boyle do a good job. The young man that started BSN and did play-by-play for the previous four years was really good! It may take a while for the new broadcasters to get up to speed. -

Watching it from the stands, Boyle’s overall team speed was impressive. So many receiver options for Dawson. Offensive and defensive line play was very good. Bodner was business as usual. Gibson Southern had no answers in the first half. Going to be a fun year for the Rebels! One other observation. I don’t think Boyle had a player cramp up from the heat. GS had multiple kids down and players from both teams in the LCA v. BG we’re cramping up. Better conditioning? -
Colonel; The only TN school in my neck of the woods would be Clarksville Northwest. We played in the same Region (District in KY) with them for several seasons. Typically not a strong program with a huge amount of annual roster turnover due to a high percentage of students being military dependents.

Infrastructure problems at high school football stadiums
Maroon Beech replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
We thought the same. However, it appears that water erosion caused the center concrete block partition supporting this concrete structure to fail. The center section above then collapsed under its own weight. This was our visitors side. Our home side is approximately 20 rows tall, spanning between the 25 yard-lines. It is massive and has the same series of concrete block partitions supporting the concrete slabs above. I'm relatively certain it too will be condemned by the engineer's report due early next week. We are playing our home game at nearby White House HS. Several other stadiums of similar construction and age exist in our county. All are being inspected this week. -

We were fortunate that the collapse happened early Monday/Tuesday morning. Tuesday evening there was a middle school game scheduled. -

Bowling Green’s stadium is awesome. We came up to the Hoptown game in ‘21. Planning on coming up during our Bye week when the Purples host Christian County. -
