This is the first game of a star studded Rafferty's Bowl kicking off next Saturday at Western Kentucky. Kickoff is slated for 5:00 CST.

The Rebels are led by Mr. Football hopeful Montavin Quisenberry, and a host of other D1 talent in Brock Driver, Demauriah Brown, Seneca Driver, and Paul McClure, but have to replace QB Sage Dawson and Mr. Do It All Avery Bodner.

LCA is led by an OL that I'm pretty sure all five has D1 offers, but they have Cutter Boley and Parker Chaney to replace.

The last two games between the two have been instant classics with LCA winning in 2021 and Boyle winning last year 47-38.

Something has to give. Who wins this one and why?

I watched the Boyle vs. Owensboro scrimmage and I thought both Boyle QBs have potential. Murphy started and played the entire first half. Had an INT but he throws a good ball. Turner came in later and he is a very athletic runner. It’s hard to replace a two year Championship QB in Dawson but IMO they will be fine. With all the offensive weapons the Rebels have the QB doesn’t have to be a superstar. Just take care of the ball and run the offense, getting the ball to your playmakers.

I think Boyle dominates this year. LCA had a subpar performance in their scrimmage and Boyle was dominant without really showing what they are capable of with their total game. A running clock is possible.

Boyle’s offense should be superb this year. They have 4 skill position players with multiple D1 offers. Two seniors in Quisenberry (WVU commit and had several D1 offers) & Brown (4 offers). Two sophomores in Seneca Driver (8 offers) and Maddox Hager (7 offers). And then senior Brock Driver who is an EKU commit on the defensive side, but that I think will be used as an RB a lot this year. And a few other kids that would be featured on many teams in Lyndon Smith, Jakeem Ray & Geo Brown. Absolutely loaded.

As far as lineman Paul McClure, I couldn’t find anything online about offers but think I recall him getting one from Wofford. Regardless, he’s very good and I suspect he will get a couple more before he’s done.

I do think they’ll be fine at QB. They just need to gain experience which comes with time. They’ll progress throughout the year.

Who are the OL you’re referring to on LCA?

I don’t expect this one to be as close as last year’s.

Preston Hayes is committed to Air Force. Trefor Thomas is committed to Navy. Brooks Kerwin is committed to Gardner Webb. Jake Darby has a few smaller school offers as does Holden Klaiber.

Who is going to start at QB for LCA? Have heard they played two pretty early in the scrimmage so just curious if they have narrowed it down to Howard or Penix? This should be an amazing game with both teams having a lot they want to prove.
