Paintsville/Fleming County Updates
Pick-six replied to swamprat's topic in KY Football (High School)
Final score was 38-6 Paintsville. Paintsville is a great team and when Fleming's Qb went down in the first quarter it really killed them offensively. Honestly felt like a closer game but Paintsville just pulled away late. Too many short fields and too much talent. -

I think in the next scheduling cycle you will see Mason’s schedule toughen up. They had a brutal schedule and pair that with multiple injuries and things didn’t go well. This schedule will help breathe some life into them and get numbers back up. I know that this is not the typical Mason schedule but every county school goes through cycles and you have to schedule accordingly. -

Bath County at Russell Predictions 10/20
Pick-six replied to GOREDDEVILS's topic in KY Football (High School)
I think Bath County is dangerous on offense! They run a unique offense that really out numbers you at the point of attack. Pretty sure that Russell has not played a team that runs it. Add to that the Schwartz kid is a stud and seems perfect for this offense. He is very patient and reads his blocks well. If they can hold onto the ball and eat clock, they are a dangerous group. Defensively, Bath is not as strong. If they can get some stops or force turnovers, they can make things interesting. Russell has more weapons and Bath running the ball takes pressure off their young Db's. All in all, I hope it is a great game. I think our district games being competitive are good for everybody. On a side note, most of Bath's main players are juniors and I think they will really be tough next year!! -

Landan Swartz is a stud! I was very impressed with him tonight! -

Fleming has been a head scratcher at times. They throw for over 300 yards against Russell and then only throw it 10 times against West. Not sure if that was the game plan or what but it was the least passes I have ever seen them attempt. Heck, I think they threw it more in the downpour at Russell 2 years ago! -

I don't think this game will resemble last years in any way at all! -

When did Bath County last win a district championship? Fleming finished in a 3 way tie in 2015 but hasn't won one since 2001. -

This will not be pretty for the Eagles... -
Both teams come in at 6-1 and 3-0 in the district. If Fleming wins, I think they clinch the district championship. If Bath wins, it will set up a big game at Russell the following week.

This really shocks me! Who all is out for Mason County? -
Who all is out for Mason? That might factor into the ball game.

Fleming County 14 West Carter 9
Pick-six replied to DevilMayCare's topic in KY Football (High School)
First off, hats off to both defenses! They both played well. I think this was a game of matchups. West Carter’s strength is their defensive secondary and lb’s. They did a good job of covering. But, at the same time the radio said Fleming ran the ball 39 times and only threw it 11. They rushed for over 200 yards and that is something you don’t hear a lot from them. Fleming’s defense made plays when they had to. They had several tackles for a loss and forced fumbles or held on 4th down several times. -

Not trying to take a jab at you, just saying that it is hard to really rate teams off one scrimmage. -
Fleming County is 5-1 and coming off a win vs Russell and West Carter is 2-4 and has a 3 game losing streak. The last time Fleming beat Russell, West Carter thumped them the following week. Will that happen again or will Fleming stay on track?

Exactly! If I remember correctly someone on here had ranked the teams from the EKC grid and they had Rowan ranked #1. They also had both Bath and Fleming ranked really low. They both have now beaten multiple teams that were ahead of them. Bottom line is, a scrimmage is exactly that a scrimmage! Most teams are going to work on certain things and try different things to see what they have. When you only get 1 scrimmage, you have to use it to learn about your team. -

I hate it for kids to have to miss a season, especially seniors. Fleming lost Zac Alexander for the season and Kaleb Flanery didn't dress against Lewis. Not sure the extent of his injury though. Your backups must have done a pretty good job because you layed it on West! -

Who all is hurt/out for Russell? I know Stump was hurt in the preseason? -
West Carter at Bath County 9/29
Pick-six replied to All the Right Moves's topic in KY Football (High School)
Scratching my head with both these teams for different reasons! For West, I saw them in the preseason scrimmage and thought they looked really good. The last 2 games have me confused. They shouldn't have lost to Nicholas and I thought the Russell game would be a lot closer. For Bath, they had some kids out when I saw them in the preseason so I knew they would be better than how they looked then. I am suprised at how close some teams have played them but they have proven that you can never count them out of a game. This game could be a dandy with West trying to stay alive and Bath trying to keep climbing the ladder! -

Nice bounce back win for Fleming County. It was 37-0 at the half and the JV kids scored late in the game. Lewis County has some nice looking athletes. They just couldn't get on track tonight.
