I thought Fleming would win by more than they did.

Apparently, Fleming suffered from a bit of a hangover after last week. Got to give credit to West's defense, though. They played a great game. A few details...

- West Carter drove inside the Fleming 10 yard line twice in the 1st half, but only came away with 3 points.

- West held the lead briefly toward the end of the 3rd quarter after a TD pass from Rivers to Malic Cline.

- Fleming regained the lead on a TD run by Crump a couple of minutes later.

- West had the ball at mid-field late in the 4th with an opportunity to win, but Rivers fumbled while being sacked. Fleming recovered.

First off, hats off to both defenses! They both played well.

I think this was a game of matchups. West Carter’s strength is their defensive secondary and lb’s. They did a good job of covering. But, at the same time the radio said Fleming ran the ball 39 times and only threw it 11. They rushed for over 200 yards and that is something you don’t hear a lot from them.

Fleming’s defense made plays when they had to. They had several tackles for a loss and forced fumbles or held on 4th down several times.
