Ugly game with no flow. Lots of plays for negative yards, lots of penalties on both sides. Chandler Dunaway with three TD passes; two to Leevi Dunaway. Malcolm Devine with something like 70 yards rushing and a 24-yard TD reception.Royals defense stopped the Braves on downs three times in the game.

Why is Mason County playing such a weak schedule?

Why is Mason County playing such a weak schedule?

 

The same reason Bracken does, builds morale. When you're building a program you've got to have some built in wins.

But come on, a North Adams team that isn’t sanctioned by the OHSAA, 3-7 Rowan County, 4-5 Morgan County, 0-9 Grant County that doesn’t play in the postseason, 2-7 Lewis County this week. I think a morale boost would come over beating a decent team.

How about a game between Mason and Bracken? They are right there close together. Show play one another. And I agree with Shuttlesworth...morale. For the past few years, Mason has had one of the toughest schedules. It was inherited by Coach Thomas after Coach B left for Mercer Co. It was a very tough schedule and these kids took beat downs. And a lot of interest was lost in the football program from a lot of kids, because of that. But, on the other hand, when Coach Thomas got to make his own schedule (this season) u see how much the tougher schedule helped these kids. They never quit!!! They are now playing the type of opponents, that they should be playing. And not traveling 2-3 hours away to games. Hopefully, it starts to equate to more kids wanting to play, due to some success they're having.

I think in the next scheduling cycle you will see Mason’s schedule toughen up. They had a brutal schedule and pair that with multiple injuries and things didn’t go well. This schedule will help breathe some life into them and get numbers back up.

I know that this is not the typical Mason schedule but every county school goes through cycles and you have to schedule accordingly.
