  1. It seemed that Coburn, Black, and Devine (Mason County) were a bit too much for the West side to handle tonight. What a three headed monster.
  2. Malkolm Devine has chosen to decommit from CCU to continue his education and play football for the Norwich University Cadets in Northfield, VT. Very proud of this young man. Norwich is getting a explosive, shifty, back. Best of luck to him this fall.
  3. What type of team will Mason Co. be after the loss of 8 Seniors? They are returning a young group led by Malkolm Devine, Carson Brammer, and Landon Prather. So, let’s see what happens!
  4. I would agree with what u are saying about the last few Mason teams compared to the teams of the past. But, I can’t and won’t judge the character of the players. We don’t know the family circumstances of the player in general. But, I don’t condone disrespect...if that’s what u are meaning.
  5. I believe Sam Kumler is playing. I’m not 100% on that. But, I will find out. Yes, they’re very talented as well. If I know this group of Seniors...that will not consume them. They were without some parts to the puzzle. But, I definitely am not taking anything from Lewis at all. I know a lot of those kids and parents. And those guys played one hell of a game!!! And, they are well deserving of that win. They wanted it!!! And they took it!!!
  6. Malkolm Devine, the one that starred in Football, is the same kid playing basketball and baseball, as well! He has two younger brothers and one out of school, also. One is a Sophomore, that plays football (Gabe). The other is very young. Very athletic family!!! Malkolm, is just part of this very talented group of Seniors that has yet to play their best ball. When they do...watch out!!! Jaylen Lofton is still with the team. He is dealing with some minor issues and will be back as soon as possibly tomorrow night versus Paris! But, don’t count these guys out yet! They are very capable of making that run through the 10th Region. They will figure it out!
  7. The Devine kid is a Senior. And Biggs and the whole staff knew, that he could play. He is a 3 sport athlete, who is good at all the sports he plays. He is being recruited for Football as well as baseball actively. Biggs was giving the others the chance to play, because Devine wasn’t able to play in spring or summer, due to baseball and football. But, now...he has gotten his rhythm and he will continue to put up numbers to help his team get wins. Most people remember him playing as a youngster on the AAU circuit! Averaged double figures in just about ever game, if I remember correctly. Most were in the 20+ point range. He was on TriCounty Thunder. Played against most of the Campbell Co players regularly. A very good player! And like someone else said...there are several other good players on that team and walking the halls at Mason Co and other schools, that came from Mason Co.
  8. Malkolm Devine-(Mason County) Norwich University, Cincinnati Christian Univ
  9. Malkolm Devine-RB, Mason Co. 1,183 rushing yards and 13tds
  10. It just strikes me funny, that Bracken would want to poke at Mason County's schedule. Pick Six couldn't have said it any better. When u have down years, u must get morale for the troops somehow. But, with that being said...why not have your coach at Bracken contact Thomas and schedule a game or scrimmage next year. See where u all stand in football with us? Trust me...I have a lot of respect for those Bracken kids. I have actually coached both Fishers in AAU basketball. And my son is really really good friends with Brady Jones. So, I truly wish those kids nothing, but the best.
  11. How about a game between Mason and Bracken? They are right there close together. Show play one another. And I agree with Shuttlesworth...morale. For the past few years, Mason has had one of the toughest schedules. It was inherited by Coach Thomas after Coach B left for Mercer Co. It was a very tough schedule and these kids took beat downs. And a lot of interest was lost in the football program from a lot of kids, because of that. But, on the other hand, when Coach Thomas got to make his own schedule (this season) u see how much the tougher schedule helped these kids. They never quit!!! They are now playing the type of opponents, that they should be playing. And not traveling 2-3 hours away to games. Hopefully, it starts to equate to more kids wanting to play, due to some success they're having.
  12. Big numbers put up on the ground for these two teams. Scott: N. Perrin-14 carries, 168 yards, and 2 tds. Q. Perrin-18 carries, 110 yards, and a TD. Mason: Devine-27 carries, 162 yards, and 2TDs. One being a 90 yard kickoff return for a TD to start the game. This was a classic. Both teams left it all on the field. Hats off to both
  13. After the game was over...I saw Lofton walking into the locker room. I heard one of the docs say everything checked out fine. So, he should be with the team next week.
  14. Can Fleming stop Devine and the running game? And Chandler Dunaway is much improved and has a very talented group of receivers to throw to. May be too much for Fleming to handle this year. Last year, I thought Fleming would definitely win that one. This year...I'm not so sure.
  15. Malkolm Devine-Mason County-5 carries for 157 yards and 2TDs
  16. Yet another young pitcher for the Royals pitching well...and completes the game! This time...it was Prather!!! These young pitchers getting a lot of experience and doing well. I'm happy to see that!! Hats off to the pitching Coach. Coach Burney!!!
  17. Totally, agree with what you have said about those very good players. However, there are some young arms that are on that team capable of getting the job done. Prather, Bowling, and Brammer play big roles now as youngsters. That experience will count for something in the very near future.
  18. And Mason was without at least 3 Seniors and a couple of other underclassman starters for this game. And still had just enough to pull through. The Bracken errors helped also. Several freshman and a 8th grader played in the game for Mason. Future may not be as bare as u think. Watch out
  19. This year's Mason Co team is a lot better then, they are showing right now. When I watch them I see, that the top 5 or 6 players are getting worn out due to overuse every game. This team has at least 9-10 players that can play. The other 4 or 5 may not be as good as some of the starters, but could easily steal some minutes to give those guys some rest. Fatigue along with injuries...is what is hurting this team. And there are some shooters in the other 5, that can put up points. If they get this figured out by February...they could make a run at the region title
  20. I think this will be a very good game. Both teams have things to figure out going forward, but I just don't see this game being a 10pt+ win for either. However, I will take the home team in the Fieldhouse. I think they have the deeper bench. And down the road, they get them more involved and be a factor come tourney time. Royals in a close one.
  21. I remember West Union playing the Mason JV. And u could tell then, that West Union was working hard at building a program. My hat goes off to Coach McFarland and his coaches for their hard work and commitment to the players.
  22. Unfortunately, yes...it counts!!! Rumor has it, that Mason was having trouble finding opponents to fill out the schedule when they were scheduled.
  23. Too much of the Mason County running game tonight!!! Devine with 5 first half Tds, Lucas with 3Tds, and even throw in some of Chambers at fullback!!! Mason County's line blocked well for those backs tonight! Well done guys!!! Also, hats off to a much improved West Union squad!!! They have nothing to hang their heads about. They are building a good program from bottom up!
