If you are referring to Weyer and McDonald he's as tall but not even close to their ability. He is getting better but not that type of player. Good spot player and does some nice things but no real offensive ability other than right by rim.

He really appears to be forcing his game. He needs to let the game come to him more.

Was this supposed to happen??

I loved that he subbed like he did. He's not sure who is going to play where and the only way to find out is to play kids. They will be fine.

If they rely on the 3 pointer it could be a long year.

Three of those points came on a desperation 3 as the game ended. He never got many good looks. Thought lloyd's guards took NCC's out of the game.

Most state runner-up finishes
Don't disagree at all. They lost in maybe '86 when they went for 2 and the pass was complete I think but Frank Jacobs foot was on the back line. They surely would have won the year Holy Cross upset them in the regional finals. I always tell kids it is better to have lost in the finals than never to have played in the game at all.

Most state runner-up finishes
I think there are PLENTY of teams that would love to have 9 runner-up trophies. To go with 5 championship trophies.

Defensive Standouts in N.Ky for 2016
Job Freppon had a very solid year at CB and most teams avoided him all year, running or passing.

If I Were A High School Player Today.....
Just another reason that social media has made it much harder for kids today. I could go on forever about the evils of social media but it would just be beating a dead horse.

Should Court System Get Involved In This Playoff Game?
ABSOLUTELY bad precedent. Hell, we will have the courts looking at replays next. The game is decided on the field regardless of missed calls.

You are so correct. I have several observations about the game. I haven't seen all of NCC's games, but the ones I have they hardly ever target Freppon on passes. Last night he caught everything that was remotely catchable. Why didn't he get the ball more all year long? How does a team go from dominating the line of scrimmage in the first game to getting blown out a month later? NCC seemed to give up on the run very early in the game and only went back to it when the game was on the line when they had first and goal at the 5 yard line. I don't disagree with running it once to see what you can get, but rolling the QB out and giving them options seemed much better than trying to do something you couldn't do all night. I know Henchen was pressurred a lot, but all year long he seemed to lock in on one receiver and hardly ever went to a secondary receiver. From the time the ball was snapped you knew where he was going from his first look. Bottom line, Holy Cross was the better team last night and deserved to win. But I don't think it had to be that if NCC had played a smarter game. Have no idea What Danville has, but they were very good last year so HC will have to play their best to win, but the game is certainly winnable.

Refs didn't cost them the game. MANY mistakes cost them the game. Just a shame it ended this way.

I'm sure you are correct, but by not waving his arms indicated he didn't see the fumble so therefore couldn't have seen the NCC players knee down because he didn't know where the ball was. Thanks for the clarification.

The proper mechanics for an official when the play is ruled completed is to blow the whistle and wave arms indicating the play is over. Did both of these things happen?

State Tournament 1941
I find it fascinating to look at these old clippings. In the 9th it appears Dayton was playing Hamilton? Who is that?

Great summary. Only thing saw was. It was Freppn who caught the second long pass also. SEems like he catches most passes thrown his way, but they don,t go to him very offen.

Any info on the all-tourney team?

No disrespect taken. These teams have earned the favorites mantle, but I wouldn't overlook NCC as they are putting it together again. Of course they still have to get by Holy Cross and LLoyd so their path isn't easy either.

You better be able to stop teams in the playoffs. Usually defense prevails. We will leave it at that for now.

The original statement said the player had possession and was on the ground. In that case the ball is dead.

9th Region Coaches 2016 Preseason Team/Player Rankings
If NCC is picked 3rd then they probably need 2 players in the top 10. Moeves can be a big scorer this year, but football will delay his performance. I think NCC will be much deeper than last year, but obviously have no on like Weyer. Could be interesting team, however.

Newport Central Catholic/Lloyd Predictions
I think NCC must stay with the SHORT passing game they used against HC and not get caught up in throwing the long ball a lot. This gives Henchen a chance to get rid of the ball sooner and gives the receivers a chance for yards after catches. Their running game must improve if they are to make a real run also.

Belfry/Newport Central Catholic Predictions
Belfry is in a completely different class than any team in the state except probably Trinity. Probably the best team they have ever had, and that's saying something.
