Most all 2A teams will need some breaks to beat a 6A team. I really don't think you should get that excited about beating a team that has about 25% of the students as you do. Take the win graciously assuming you should have won and prepare for the games that count. At the end of the season we will see which team advances farther in their respective playoffs. That's the real payoff. As to the SK/NCC game I don't think it will be close, and shouldn't be.

The girls also won the first volleyball "All A" state tournament and have won at least one track state championship.

Why would you NOT root for the local team. It can't do anything but bring recognition to our area for them to win, if nothing else. It's no different than rooting for all the local teams in the state playoffs, even if you are rivals during the regular season.

Congratulations. Always glad to see kids from NKY get scholarships.

I expect they will have an outstanding year. However, how they handle the"Cordia Affect" should prove to be interesting.

I understand the problem with small schools, but this is true in basketball also. Agree it isn't right but it won't change in my opinion. As to more kids playing on a club team, why can't other high schools do the same thing? Why couldn't all the kids from Ryle, or any other high school, play on the same club team and accomplish the same thing?

Sorry to burst the balloon but Wurtz is only about 6'2" and will need some seasoning at the freshman level, along with another cousin, Job Freppon. It might be interesting next year though when the Freppon brothers and their couisins McDonald and Wurtz have a chance to all play together. Time will tell on this one, however.

When will people accept that McDonald is one of the very beat golfers around. Why would he want to to start playing a sport he only played one year about 5 or 6 years ago and give up a sport in which he loves and excels?

Doubt Bezold thinks he is too good to play there. Why wouldn't he offer him anyway, what does he have to lose.

Great to see another NKY kid get good offers. There are sure a number of prospects in the area, more than I have ever seen.

Speaking of Bolden, how did the Travelers U16 and U17 teams do in Kansas City this past weekend? Anyone have any information?

By the way, I heard McDonald from Travlers had 20 points and 12 rebounds in this game. Also heard Travlers went 4-0 in their pool but lost in the Elite 8. McDonald averaged 16 points and 12 rebounds in the 5 games. Supposedly was pretty impressive.

Agree completely. What do you say to the local kid who's parents have been paying taxes, watching their son develop all through grade school and jr. high, and now doesn't get to play because kids who need a GPS to find your school take their spot. And don't tell me they will be happy just to be on a winner. High school kids want to PLAY. This isn't college where you know someone may be recruited that is better than you. By the way, I have never been anywhere near Hazard so this isn't personal with me, I just think it is grossly unfair to a whole lot of people.

Seems like it would. Apparently no one has reported the case to KHSAA. They can't take any action unless a complaint is filed.
