Bishop Brossart senior, Alex Trentman, a 6'6", 185 pound power forward, has been offered a full-ride scholarship to D-II Christian Brothers University, in Memphis, Tennessee. Alex caught the eye of the elite Buccaneers program while playing for the U-17 Northern Kentucky Jazz, coached by Brossart Varstiy Assistant Kevin Bundy, who were appearing in the Super Showcase, and Division I AAU National Tournament, at Disney World in Orlando, Florida. There the Jazz posted a 5-5 record, including a 3-0 sweep of pool competition in the National Tournament, and advanced to the Gold (Championship) bracket. Alex scored double-figures in each of the ten games played in those respective tournaments averaging 18.5ppg.

Last season Christian Brothers recorded a 21-9 mark, enroute to winning the ten team Gulf South Conference Championship, finishing their season in the NCAA Division II South Regional Tournament. They are coached by Mike Nienaber, who is entering his fifteenth year as the head coach of the Bucs. This past season, Alex was the Brossart Mustangs' second leading scorer, amassing 397 points (12.8ppg), grabbing 161 rebounds (7.2rpg) and blocking 33 shots. The Mustangs finished their 2012-13 campaign with a 26-6 record, after winning the 10th Region "A" Classic, 37th District championship and finished up as 10th Region semi-finalists.

In addition to Christian Brothers, Alex has received interest from D-I Belmont College (Nashville, Tennessee), where he has attended their Elite Camp via invitation from head coach Rick Byrd. NAIA Embry-Riddle has also expressed interest in Alex who attended their team camp last summer in Daytona Beach, Florida. The Eagles are coached by local product, Steve Ridder, and are past NAIA National Champions. He is also being pursued by D-II South Carolina - Aiken.

Alex has his senior season yet to play, under the direction of Brossart head coach, Mike Code. The Mustangs are one of the pre-season top-ranked teams in the 10th Tenth Region.

#2 on my list.

That is fantastic. Sure there will be more offers, but that is a great deal. (school and basketball taken care of) Congratulations and keep working hard.

#2 on my list.

Bach would be my #1. Trentman or Shawn Johnson my #2. Love Trentman's athleticism & Johnson's averaging a double-double last year. Can't go wrong with either of those two bigs.

Congrats Alex!! He played very very good at Orlando!! Was taking it to the rim very well with confidence and played consistent. This will be be first of many many offers for him to choose from.

Great to see another NKY kid get good offers. There are sure a number of prospects in the area, more than I have ever seen.

I read on Twitter that he averaged 18.5 ppg in Orlando.

Thrilled for this young man and his family. I have followed him over the last several years and look forward to him having a fantastic senior year.

Kid has a nice all-around game. Perimeter game is solid. Solid athlete. Does lots of things well. He and Burns are a formidable pair for the Stangs.

Congatulations!! Great young man from a great family.

Many Greater Cincinnati athletes have played sports at CBC now CBU over the years. Excellent D2 school in a nice conference in nice weather..
