All is well in Newport. Holy cow NewCath, offensively is dynamic. Smith was every bit as good as Baker and Baker is unreal. Great sportsmanship by Ashland as well, class team. Once NewCath gets better tackling on the outside they will be solid against the run. Ashland didn't pass, so tough to tell where Needs are against the pass. Franzen is a stud. Moore is a good back and Sutkamp is a Sutkamp and nothing further needs to be said. This team, offensively is ahead of last year's, with more options. Exciting year this year.

The Breds turned the ball over 4 times, Smith & Moore fumbles & Franzen int's (both on tipped balls, one in the endzone). Breds only punt one time in this game (6:00 mark in the 4th). Breds did a nice job running the ball, Sutkamp with a "clutch" 35 yd run late in the 2nd Q to set up FG. Nate Enslen with a nice 60 yd kickoff return to set up another score. Mac Franzen great job at the QB position running and throwing the ball, looks like a natural back there. Breds need to do a better job of tackling, but Baker is all that....and then some. Ashland did win won thing......injury timeouts 10-1, never seen so many kids go down with cramps in one game.

Overall very pleased with the performance by the Breds tonight and CONGRATS to Coach Wagner. :dancingpa

Congrats to NCC on the win. I know that the Tomcats wanted this one as well, especially for their new coach.

For all my Tomcat friends, I will start pulling for you starting with your 3rd game of this season. :D. We (Rams) will see you next week. :thumb:

Breds have quite a few options running the ball, thats for sure.

Unfortunately you left before this happened, but Jack Sutkamp put a "slobberknocker" of a hit on some poor kid from Ashland late in the game, kid is still seeing stars.

Congrats to Coach Wagner couldn't happen to a better guy! Looks like the Breds will be tough again this year. Look forward to seeing them play.

I have a question for any of the NCC fans, by any chance is the Sutkamp kid the son of one of the Sutkamp's that played at Bellevue in the mid/late 70's ? I was just wondering bc they were two great rb's. I especially remember John Sutkamp running all over my Raceland team in the playoffs in the late 70;s. He ran something like 55 times for 300 plus some yards I believe. Bellevue barely ran 60 plays that game, I wonder who was getting the ball, lol.

Jon is his dad. Nice kid and nice football player.

Really impressed with the play of Logan Neff and Kobe Tallon tonight on defense. Neff was in on numerous tackles and Tallon was a force at an inside backer spot in the 4th quarter especially. Just do not understand how you have a series where you make several tackles and then the next you are standing on the sidelines watching? Some kids do not show much and yet they are in for every snap.

1st game,. The eye in the sky never lies, and the coaches will see it. If you aren't at practice, you never know what they see. They have had a TON of success. Trust them.

Newcath is going to be very good this year...unproven in spots but loaded with talent.

:thumb: Thank you.

How many yards did Baker end up with?

I don't know, but he is electric. Smith, though, is every bit as good. He is going to be something in two years if he stays healthy.
