I thought the Ashland paper said 236 on 13 carries.

Really impressed with the play of Logan Neff and Kobe Tallon tonight on defense. Neff was in on numerous tackles and Tallon was a force at an inside backer spot in the 4th quarter especially. Just do not understand how you have a series where you make several tackles and then the next you are standing on the sidelines watching? Some kids do not show much and yet they are in for every snap.

 

Some kids play their position better. I'm sorry, it's not all about being in on tackles. You have to be able to line up right and do what the coaches ask you to do. Quite honestly, some kids practice better than others and deserve the playing time. Tallons time will definitely continue to improve. He Had a great summer and showed no reason Friday night to not play more. Neff also did some good things, from talking with the coaches, he just needs to work on his technique. I would expect him to have a very good year.

People haven't said much about this player, but Steve brooks was probably the defensive MVP of that game. He was out standing.

I agree Brooks looked great.

What????????? I will take playmakers on my team any day of the week. Technique is important, but it also takes effort and desire to make plays. The three guys you mentioned certainly showed that on Friday while there were others that did not impress me near as much. Just Sayin'

Playmakers are great, but they have to make those plays within the confines of their defensive assignments. First game, things will change as the season progresses.

I agree with JoaT, playmakers would see a lot of playing time on my squad. All in all I wasn't sure how NCC would come out of the gate on this one, But I will say that even with the turnovers, the kids never let down until to final buzzer sounded. There is more depth on this years team than last, and I think Coach Wagner displayed that in his opener.

The main thing that needs to be fixed, and I'm sure that it will be, is tackling on the edge. It wasn't really lost contain by the DE's as much as it was the OLBs and CBs not getting outside as the DE's took on traps. That will quickly be fixed.

Did not say that anyone didn't specifically. Those were 3 kids that stood out to me on the defensive side of the ball on Friday night, plain and simple. Not familiar enough with all of the kids that play for NCC and to be honest, I would not get on here and bash a high school kid. Offered my compliments to those 3 kids and I will leave it at that.
