IMO this game will come down to which team sticks to their gameplan and who wins the turnover battle. If Highlands sticks to 75% running the ball, they can win by 2tds because they will eat up the clock. They deviate from that and start trying to throw the ball it will be a problem. For SC they need to just do what they do and run their offense to perfection. When they do that they are extremely tough to beat. Teams have to be patient defensively and be 100% gap sound because if you don’t you will be eaten alive trying to find the ball and then it’s too late because the player you thought has the ball doesn’t and the player that does is off to the end zone. Add to that, if your secondary falls asleep and they will hit you with a pass play over the top when you least expect it. Close game but I think SC wins by 3.

Good luck to whoever has to play either of these two teams in the playoffs. The passing attack of WC was virtually unstoppable last night and the receivers were athletes with speed. SC did what SC does, ran the ball VERY effectively, and once WC found the ball it’s too late! There’s not a defense in 5A that will be able to consistently stop either of these two offenses IMO. And if a team is lucky enough to slow them down, does that offense have enough juice to score enough. I will say WC is the leader in the clubhouse to bring the trophy after what I witnessed last night and SC is on the porch.

Just as I thought it would end up. As stated earlier, HHS will be just fine in KY. It’s just a different level of play when most KY teams cross that river. Nothing to hang their heads about, they won’t face a team of that caliber the remainder of the year. Won’t be surprised if both teams bring home trophies this year.

I will agree with this comment. Nothing against the Birds but this is a huge step up in competition. HHS is still the best team in NKY and I see them with deep run in the playoffs.

Having watched both teams Friday night, I will say this will be Elder's game by at least 2 touchdowns.

Very good game but the CCH defense was very perplexing to me the last :50 seconds. Why they were rushing 4 down linemen and corners not playing outside leverage was a head scratcher. The pass play that drew the personal foul was completed on the outside, then they come right back and throw to the outside on the other side of the field. Just like that they are in striking distance with :22 left and all 3 TOs. On the final play with :07 left in the game, CCH should have taken a TO to set the defense. Lorenzen should have been jammed at the LOS and then ran with down the field. This would have freed the safety up with help over the top. Just my opinion, but I’m not making it easy for the other team’s best player to catch that pass. Hats off to the Birds on “Finding A Way” to get it done. Best team in NKY and it’s not even close.

Good list but I wouldn’t have Cooper in the top 3, maybe 5. The shear speed of Manual was simply too much last night and Cooper struggles to stop the run. At the time, as you stated, the Ryle win was significant but Ryle has now lost 3 in a row. With the Cooper district being one of the weakest in the entire state, they really won’t have a quality win with the exception of Ryle if that counts but it certainly won’t help their RPI but should be a confidence booster reeling off the next 5 games including non-conference foe SK and getting a #1 seed for the first round at least. Even though they laid an egg last night, don’t count out Scott County come playoff time. Wofo is the leader of the pack right now. Should be interesting come playoff time.

5A is totally up for grabs.

A lot of points in this game for one half. Defense appears to be optional.

Don’t disagree on him specifically but I certainly would have ran the ball more in total and passed a heck of a lot less. The QB is a far better runner than passer. Hopefully they’ll figure that out in this game.

Should had did that last week instead of passing so much. JMO.

Ryker Campbell was the best player on the field tonight. Kid is the the most underrated player in the State in my opinion. Congrats to the Jag players with the huge upset and claiming the Battle of Union 2 years in a row!

This is the truest statement of the entire thread. This division is 100% up for grabs.

I've heard the summer has been ok and about what's to be expected. Regardless of how many summer scrimmages SH wins, I believe Coach Sully will be putting in his foundation of getting his players to compete as hard as they can AND playing hard nosed defense. Sure, it will take some time to get it where Sully wants it, but this isn't his first rodeo in building a program as the "early" years at his preceeding school were character and "culture" ? building years as well. Will it take a year or two, maybe, but I'm a believer that if there is anyone that can get his players to play way above their potential it's Tim Sullivan because he's proven it time and time again.

Having watched both of these two, I am going to take MoCo in an upset. This team can shoot, handle the ball and frankly is tough. Just something about them being a complete team that makes me think they can pull this off. Moreno and Dawson get theirs, but there will be no opportunity to run a box-n-one on the Indians like they did vs Cooper because they have multiple weapons that can beat you. MoCo in a close one.

Moreno will get his points and blocks, part of the game with a 7 footer, I am more concerned with Dawson and containing him. All 5 Cooper starters will have to be close to double figures along with stellar defense again and if that happens this game will be close. Sully even said in the post-game presser that a couple guys played hesitant on offense tonite, that can’t happen tomorrow. Sully is telling his team to play defense, play loose and more importantly “have fun”.

Wasn’t pretty, just effective. Big one tomorrow with the presumptive favorite GC in front of them.

No surprise here because Cooper lives on its defense and not offense. There’s a reason they have only given up 60 points only 5 times all year. Coach Sully demands defense first and the offense will come.

If HC is going to face guard AJ with the Box-n-One all night they rest of starters are going to have score.

NCAA Tournament may have a little to do with that plus it is still a work night for a late game. Just my opinion.
