The 7-1 Cardinals are traveling to Versailles to play the 6-1 Yellow Jackets.

The series with the new district is split through two seasons. A couple years ago the Cardinals blitzed on the road winning 36-0 to take the district. Last year, Woodford got their revenge on a game winning field to take the district.

This game has MASSIVE implications for November. Whoever wins will secure home field for at least two rounds of the playoffs, and the RPI boost won’t hurt either.

The question for Woodford will be how to contain Junior Timmy Emongo. Timmy had four touchdowns in only 7 or 8 touches last night as the Cardinals only ran 26 total plays on offense in their 49-21 win over South Oldham.

Scott County will have to figure out how to slow down the air attack by Woodford. Two years ago they dominated, but last years performance was anything but. Luckily, the strength of Scott County’s defense is the secondary which is led by JuJu Harmon, and of course, Timmy Emongo.

This is a top 15 matchup in the state and possibly the #1 vs #2 in 5A. Does Scott County take the district for the second time in three seasons? Or does Woodford claim their second district title in a row?

Huge game for all of 5A. Woodford has cleared two of the three hurdles of their three week 5A measuring stick. They’ve done so with authority as well.

Scott Co. can really stake their claim with a win here.

I think whoever wins this game, it will be their best win in recent history. Whoever loses, it will continue a narrative of not winning the big time games.

Both sides have cleared with authority. I expect the Scott County offense to be too much for Woodford yet again. Scott County will get a turnover or two defensively as well.

County 42

Woodford 21

This I believe is one of the better games in the state this week regardless of class.

Without question and no knock on this game but it is not a good week for high level matchups.

Coin toss is pretty important here. Who gets the ball first? And who will get it after the half?  If Woodford starts out on D, I think they can hold the visitors to a punt or field goal on the first drive, and then with offense past the initial hype of the beginning of the game, can work their way to a score.

Folks most likely haven't seen Wofo's offense in person. They got the size to push a lot of teams around easily, and provided the defense holds serve early in the 1st half, the offensive line is going to wear out the opponent's d-line.

I would look for junior RB Darrian "Man Man" Tomlin to have a breakout game here. He will have the opportunity to move the sticks early and often.

Stack the box if you want, there will be a long pass completion afterward. Justyn Perez, a P4 OL  and Carson Bugg will likely keep Foxx Coons jersey pretty clean.

I don't think it will be a nail biter this season, I got Woodford winning 28-14.

Well, we know who will get ball first. McKee will have to script up something creative here. No, I don’t mean start out in shotgun and hit a 7 yard curl then do a sweep to Emongo. That’s expected at this point. First play needs to go to the fullback on their dive, fake power play. Trust me, it’ll work.

Scott County rarely gets bullied. They’ll get the stops they need to force Woodford to throw. McKee knows better than anyone… stacking the box does little to none if the rushing attack is that good. They’ll bring the 3 man rush as usual.

This should be a great game. Two really good teams competing for the district title in what some would say is the toughest district in the state. Wofo won this one by 3 points last year on the road. I think they also get it done this year. Home field advantage will help. Wofo 42 - Scott Co 35

I'm leaning Wofo, but only because it's at their place. This feels like a virtual coin flip to me.

Both teams have championship potential that goes way beyond the district.

The fantastically named Foxx Coons is having a great year behind center for the Jackets. I don't expect him to duplicate what his predecessor did to Scott County's defense last year, but I think he plays well enough to keep Woodford ahead by a nose on the scoreboard this week.

I will definitely be tuning into this one. Excited to watch two potential state final caliber teams that play an extremely different style of ball. Should be a fun one. I am going to say, based off of limited knowledge of both teams, that Woodford pulls this one out by one score. I am thinking somewhere in the 35-28 or 35-31 type of a game.
