The 1st round finale, this game is set to tip off at 8:30 PM Thursday 3/27. Henderson County, the 2nd region champs, take on the Cooper Jaguars from the 9th.

Cooper is 23-5 and escaped the 9th without a loss to a regional foe all year long. They are led by co-player of the year in the region, Andy Johnson. Of course, the major storyline here is that their next loss may very well be Coach Tim Sullivan’s last game. He is the only head coach in program history but is currently embroiled in drama and intrigue surrounding the claims that he has already been made known he will be gone once the curtain sets on this season.

Henderson County features deadeye shooter Cooper Davenport. He averages over 14 points per game and is shooting over 40 percent from three point range. The Colonels are 25-6 this season and pushed themselves scheduling wise as they took on some power programs outside of Western Kentucky including Trinity and Douglass. This is an experienced team with their top four scorers all in their senior year.

We should have a fun final game Thursday.

  • I think he almost has to be rooting against Cooper.  The more games Cooper wins, the worse he looks, and he already looks bad..

Being at Rupp, I'm sure that one hit different. Greatest dunk of his life to this point.

I am from NKY and do not know a lot about Henderson County. It sounds like they have a very solid team. However, I am riding with Cooper in this one for two reasons:

1.) "The Sully Effect" - Players are rallying around him and giving that extra everything they have for him. That matters in close games.

2.) Andy Johnson - Dude is special and that is all that needs to be said.

For anyone from Henderson County or across the state that needs to come up to speed on the Sully Effect:

The Cooper Jags are playing the best they have played all year despite only going about 7 players in rotation. It will be a challenge for all the teams, especially in the bottom half of this bracket, but I am taking Cooper in a close game 5 points or less.

This team has blocked out the “noise” and just went and played and played well. The 9th is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, to get out of so Cooper will be battle tested.

Did they block out the noise or did they revel in it? Because honestly, I think a huge part of their run was how they became one unit in a way no other team did. Really a remarkable group of young men.

Honest Question... who is Cooper's principal rooting for?

I drive down to Lexington to support Coach Sully and his Jags Team.

Although it’s a late game tonight and crowd is small for the 9th Region, I’ll take Jags by 15

Are the announcers out to dinner on Prepspin?

Up 10-2 and should be 20-2. Too many early turnovers for the Jags.

10-4 Cooper end of the 1st.

I think it is a tech issue.

Finally the announcers get connected! Cooper needs to clean up the mis-haps.
