I never condone kids retaliating on the court. CovCath took the high road and did not foul him hard or take any cheap shots. If you are upset with the actions go out and stop him from scoring with your defense. But retaliation in the form of hard fouls and cheap shots is not what the game is about.

I just don't see what the big deal is here fella's. High school kids do things to draw attention to themselves. There was a whole student section of kids doing the same thing, drawing attention to themselves. I know one kid is a fan and one is a player. But how is it any different than making a shot and pumping your chest or pointing to the crazies. Remember, they are kids.

Cov Cath was simply outmatched by LexCath. Cov Cath has a ways to go before they are ready to compete again with the upper echelon of the state and even region. Wellbrock is a nice player and will be a matchup nightmare for a lot of teams, seems to me they have a ways to go with guard play. Calm down about the number of kids played folks, its the first game of the year and I am sure that Coach L was trying to figure out his best rotation.

Stauffer plays for Ryle, tough kid, nice player. Ryle also has McLeish who is a nice player. I think they can hang around with Boone for 3 quarters but will slow in the 4th. I will take Boone in a close one.

I would pull Clark Co. down two spots and subsequently move Eastern and Shelby Valley up one. I would drop Highlands and replace them with Trinity. That still may be too low for Trinity but I think they should be on there. Otherwise it is so early to tell hard to really say at this point.

Yes, these teams make up the NKAC. But is it strange that there are teams represented from three different regions? Just a thought, I am still not sure how I feel about it, just wanted to offer it up as food for thought.

Does anyone else think its kind of silly that the NKY coaches include 8th and 10th region teams in their poll? I think it should be a 9th region poll.

Of course you always want to play your hardest but also remember the scrimmages are to work with your team and figure out your strenghts. It looked to me like Holmes may be running a new offense this year, perhaps they were trying to work out some of the kinks. Either way this will be a good team and these two teams are two of the best in the state. We want to talk about how poor Holmes looked but lets not forget the Clark Co. is one of the best in the state as well.

Hard to say that they will be stronger than last year but I think they will be just as strong. The same was said when they lost Arrez, when you have the talent that Holmes has with those three its hard to bet against them. They may not win another Championship because I think some teams around the state have gotten better. I just think a lot of people are making a snap judgement on this team based off of one scrimmage. Just my opinion. I think your Boone County Rebels will be very good this year as well, I don't want to discredit that at all.

I just don't see the justification behind this statement....they return the heart of their lineup from a State Championship team from last year. I think there are a lot of people that are making some quick assumptions from one game. Henley traditionally experiments with his team in the summer and offseason. Holmes will be fine and will win the 9th region.

It was five last year as well, I assume it will be the same.

What a game from Sophomore Cameron Vocke! This kid is a stud and will be an even bigger stud as he gets older. Congrats Beechwood, and congrats Bellevue on a great season.

It seems to me anymore the only teams that pay attention to the NKAC conferences are the DIII schools, its gives them something to play for. In basketball I don't see this changing much for the Bulldogs.

I think the kids should play on the level that they can be challenged. If a Freshman is dominating on the Freshman level and that level does not provide him enough competition he should move up to the level where he can be challenged. This will make him a better player.

I know just recently Holmes and CovCath met in the regional final. I believe it was the 07-08 team, Arrez's senior year when they played the regional final at Conner.

I am not sure how they handle it but I would say if you don't play a district game then you don't have a district win therefore you would be the bottom seed.

Yeah but that team is gone and there is a new team. The Tigers can't sleep on Dayton or Villa this year or that will change quickly.

I think the best teams should have the opportunity to compete for the region. I don't like the draw, I think it should be seeded. This would avoid your two top teams in the district meeting each other in the first round. The small schools and lower ranked teams will have the same opportunity to win a game and make it to the region. Small schools have their time to shine, if they are good enough they can make it. Look at Beechwood last year. Their district was seeded and they beat Cov Cath to make it to the region.

What about Justin Doellman? Went on to Xavier from Ryle High school and had a pretty nice college career.

I think on occassions it is okay. Like most have said, gym time is precious and sometimes this is the only time that they can get it. Many people exercise in the morning and it helps you throughout the day. Also I think most kids would rather practice in the morning than practice on a Friday evening.

Beechwood brings back Nick Hall and Jon Pohlgeers, they were the only two how saw the floor in a significant amount of quality varsity time. They did have a pretty strong JV team. I am pretty sure the JV team won most of their DIII games.
