The one dunking in the above picture? That is Jaylan Daniels, Jr. Great kid. Didn't start last year. Will be between him and Rogers at center.

Jaylan had a great summer and build alot of confidence. Purvis will take some time to get over having to sit last year with knee injury.

My source at the game tells me Holmes was actually leading the first half with 4 minutes to go when Ricardo Johnson sprained his ankle and left the game. Things fell apart for the rest of half as Holmes tried to adjust without their leader. Holmes was leading second half with about a minute to go and GRC pulled out a second half win by two. Score somewhat misleading as Holmes played without possible Mr. Basketball Rico for

2 1/2 quarters. Sounds like GRC is solid. Holmes not same team without Rico.

GRC lead most of the way during the first half. The injury to Ricardo clearly had an impact on the close of the half. Second half Holmes had a 7 or 8 point lead when an altercation forced another key Holmes player to the bench(24). This occured with about two minutes to play. GRC dominated from there and took the lead in the closing moments.

 

Both of these teams,at this point, were heads above the rest of the days teams. And I dare say a rematch would probably go down to the wire. They both played extremely hard.

Not sure if you saw the same game as I did. GRC was never behind in this one and Holmes was unable to overtake the lead even before the injured player left the game! Holmes does not have the depth to repeat. GRC is clearly a favorite at this point in my opinion! They played like a team on a mission and dismantled a talented Holmes team. By the end of the game the Holmes players were spent after facing wave after wave of GRC line ups. I thought Holmes played a little rough and took some cheap shots toward the end but they will beat a lot of teams......just not this one!

The point guard for GRC was given to several players including a much improved Jaylen Daniels. His ball handling was much improved over a year ago. This team is for real and will be in rupp come march! Mark It Down!

Someone forgot to tell the teams that this was a preseason scrimmage. Game played above the rim and physical. A neat deal; huge crowd, game played hard the way it is supposed to be:

As you can see by the second half scoreboard it wasn't quite the way you saw it. Holmes was without Rico and still led by 8. Right after this the shoving altercation took the game a different direction. No cake walk here.
