I think Clark Co and Holmes both will be very good teams this year if all can stay healthy. Travis Purvis makes a big difference in Clark's team this year and if they keep him healthy,they will be very good. Any time a team loses a key player it hurts. I was wondering for the people who were at the scrimmage how McClendon played?

I like GRC a lot, but to say they are better than the defending state champions at this point because of a scrimmage would be ridiculous. Holmes was without arguably the best player in the state most of the game.

 

Holmes has plenty and or more depth than they did last yr. They will be just fine.

 

GRC will have a much tougher time getting to Rupp then Holmes will.

 

 

Both schools have great teams but i thought GRC wanted the game more than Holmes. It looked like Holmes didnt play very hard or put up enough effort in my IMO. GRC had tremendous effort and played hard. Holmes needs to develop a bench i didnt see much from them in this game.

I give credit to GRC for giving all their effort, but it means absolutely nothing since it was only a scrimmage game. Don't put to much into this scrimmage game because Holmes will be just fine and will be there in March when it really counts.

Boone will not be a problem for Holmes this yr. Highlands will provide the toughest test for the Bulldogs.

 

Don't be too sure. The same thing was said last year about Boone, and they beat Holmes once during the regular season and gave them a huge scare in the regional championship.

 

Although they lost McFarland, they may end up being a better, more balanced team this year and will have more experience than last year's team. They will start 4-5 seniors and have at least one other senior from the bench contribute. 4 of the 5 starters all started a bunch of games last year. They also have a couple of good junior big men in Brown and Montgomery who did not get to play against Holmes last year and will be good contributors. In addition, Boone's J.V. team defeated Holmes in the NKY championship last year, so they have some other good players coming up too.

I just don't see the justification behind this statement....they return the heart of their lineup from a State Championship team from last year. I think there are a lot of people that are making some quick assumptions from one game. Henley traditionally experiments with his team in the summer and offseason. Holmes will be fine and will win the 9th region.

Do they not know how to play hard all the time???? I thought it counted every time you step on the court, and the score board lights are on. Surely they haven't taken on a "primadonna attitude" that they will only step up "when it counts". I thought every game counted. With the talent they have, they should be every bit as good as they were last season.

 

IMO players and teams will only improve if they play and practice hard all the time. Sounds to me like Clark County has taken on this type of work ethic.

Holmes will turn it on in the regular and post season when it counts. That's when it is really important anyway. Again, scrimmage games don't mean anything.
