Holmes Casting Wide Net in Coaching Search

Why would Wimzie stay and help? Because he cares about the community and kids that go to Holmes. Kudos to Big John he cares about the kids not what hat he's wearing...:ylsuper: We need more like him working with our student/athletes. -
Did he play at SK this past season? I thought I read on BGP that he played over there. Based KHSAA rules wouldn't he have to sit out a year before becoming eligible to play at SK? i believe that he played at one of Boone's feeder middle schools before he went to Boone Co. HS

Why wouldn't they just play in the age group that most of the exemptions fall in? Once they get in the 9th grade a team can have as many exemption players on their rosters that they want. That AAU exemption rule is puzzling especially when you consider that each division is divided up by age group i.e., 12U, 13U, 14U etc. IMO... Personally I think its a HUGE advantage for a player to play against kids that are a year younger. Want to get better play against kids your own age or even better play against players that are older.:idunno:

Any age limit in that division? He's 19 allready... I'm assuming that you're talking about the same team that Vinny Zollo is playing on and thats a 17U division -

Does your list include the 2 seven-foot twin towers that play on the Indiana Elite team or are they imports from another states??? -
Update: Elijah Pittman (Holmes)
CATBIRD replied to Walter's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Congratulations to the Big "E" I don't think a lot of people understand what its like growing up in East Covington and not getting the support that he needs at home. The boy has practically raised himself. He's lucky to have made it this far. IF IT WASN"T FOR BASKETBALL AND HIS GOD-GIVEN TALENT I'd hate to think where this young could have ended up. :madman:Give the kid a break...:madman: He's still in my doghouse for his antics after the loss to Newport in the regionals. But, I hope someone gets a hold of him and gives him the support he needs and that he matures and grows out of the side show that he's been carrying with him. Go Elijah prove ALL those doubters and people that want to see you fail wrong.:ylsuper: Hope he ends up at W. VA... Huggs would make a great step-dad for him... -
 For real? I would hate to think that his not one of the top 12 players in the state. and Aaron Watts not making 1st or 2nd team 3000 and something points in his HS career 3000 POINTS Whose doing the voting??? Newsome from Shelby Valley better than JJ Johnson from Holmes???

Jeremiah Johnson To Campbellsville

A majority of kids graduate when they're 18. Earls from Boone Co. and Guyn from Scott Co. turned 19 in late 2009. Congrats to JJ!!! -

:thumb: If was given as a career accomplishment Ricardo Johnson (Holmes HS) would have been granted the award this year... -
That's interesting... what age group was he competing at? He's a high school senior.

Talent Level = Size of School?
CATBIRD replied to mcraycraft's topic in KY Boys Basketball (High School)
Newport competed with an enrollment of 541 students smallest of any school that was in the Sweet Sixteen this year. Not impossible to compete but certainly smaller schools have less a chance of being successful year in and year out due to the smaller numbers. don't understand why there's such an uproar when discussing having classes such as with football. If its for the kids seems like it would be better to have 4 or 5 state champs so that MORE kids could enjoy that experience? just a thought... -

:ohbrother: The Highlands game was a little different circumstances.. no denying the outcome but, Highlands was without a few of their top guns. An underman Highlands team is no comparision to the defending State Champs the mighty Holmes Bulldogs. Holmes was at full strength. That's what makes this upset soooooooooooooo HUGE  Give the Cats some credits. They shocked the world!!! Ask yourself which is a bigger accomplishment beating a team when they're not at full strength or defeating a team that isn't missing any parts? :idunno: -

Who is the kid in question I hope you're not talking about the O'Connor's. Daniel is one of the nicest boys you'll ever meet and from what I have gathered they have not said a word its the administrators that are fed up with Coach Carr's antics. Good coach or not we all answer to our bosses unless you're self-employed or unemployed. If they tell you to stop yelling at your players you'd better stop being defiant and listen to them or find a job somewhere else. -

   Show me the research where negative re-enforcement achieves the desired results? :idunno: Again I'll ask you which would you rather have someone get up in your face ranting and raving or someone that has the poise to explain to you what you did wrong? Treat people the way you wanted to be treated. If you prefer to have someone chew you out so be it. :thumb: -

Fill me in I've never heard of Duffy. Was he a hot head did he yell and scream at his players? If so glad he's gone. Its just a game no need to show a teen-ager up. If he's not doing what the coach wants then put somebody else in. Would you want somebody up in your face yelling and screaming if you screwed up??? Verbal abuse can be just as painful as physical abuse there's no place for it Its just a game... -

Check the pre-season ranking Holmes #1 Newport was ranked??? Newport was NOT ranked in the top 4 most of the year. No one took them serious until they won the 9th region All-AThe upset was HUGE
