Oldham County vs. Jeffersontown
I picked J-Town in the upset in the reg. season game - oops. Chargers 34 Colonels 27 I guess I don't learn lessons too well.

Western Hills/Central Predictions
Central has both, and many players that have "gone the distance" the past two seasons. PLAYOFF experience WH can't possibly match, as they have gone out in the 1st round each of the past two seasons.

Rematches this week
Fairdale at Western. Western won the reg. season game at Fairdale 48-28.

Western Hills/Central Predictions
I believe it is. What some forget is that Central is big and strong enough to just line up and run over people. A lot think they are just a big-play team, but they can grind it out with the best. Keeping focus and not taking opponents lightly are two parts of the discipline Coach Scroggins brought to Central. And two big reasons Central is 10-0 in it's last 10 playoff games.

Can Holmes turn into a Louisville Central?
Central has 42 freshmen this year, two seasons ago (Scroggins 1st season) they only had 9. And not only numbers, but some of the best freshmen in the Metro Louisville area. In year's past, those kids would have been at other schools, but with Central's back to back Football titles and Sweet 16 appearances a lot of the kids that play in what was once the Muhammad Ali Youth League now go to Central.

Western Hills/Central Predictions
The "backup" has played a lot in the past two seasons, both at QB and RB. He's certainly not a greenie that's been watching all season. The only team that's going to keep Central out of the 3-A title game IS Central. Central 34 Western Hills 13

DeSales 55 Newport 8
If you run YOUR offense, regardless of the score with the 2's & 3's in the ball game you are not running up the score. What good do the backups get out of running O2 dive on every play (unless that IS your offense). You might as well just throw in the towel right then and get home early. Now if they were taking time outs to try to tack on a score, that's crossing the line, but running the BASE offense with backups in the game, no.

Fairdale 39 Bullitt East 22
Fairdale came out of the game pretty banged up as well.
-
Pike County Central 74 Fleming County 50
That would be Waggener. Waggener actually led 62-41 early in the 2nd half, only to see Pulaski score 27 straight to go up 68-61. Waggener ran the ensuing kickoff back to tie the game at 68. Pulaski then scored again to go up 75-68. Waggener drove down inside the Pulaski 20 in the final minute and was victimized by a pick-6, ending the game.

Fairdale 39 Bullitt East 22
East was up 7-6 at half. Fairdale shook off the "Jeff. Co. out of school on Thursday & Friday" funk and woke up in the 2nd half. I spoke to several Jefferson County coaches last night and they all said school not being in session on Thursday and Friday seem to effect their teams' play, especially in the 1st half.

Class 4A Playoff Preview
I too think you're the man Scribe. I've never gotten to practice on Thanksgiving morning OR play in December. You have us doing both. I would beg to differ in your choice in the final game, but if we get that far I'll be happy. We'll throw the dice agaisnt the Black and Gold and take our chances, although we both have a WEE bit of work to do first.

Trinity/Southern Predictions
Trinity 48 Southern 6

Conner / Manual Predictions
After getting stung by Male and a 7-point loss to X, Manual will come out in a foul mood. Manual 34 Conner 14
-
Newport/DeSales Predictions
DeSales lost one-score games to 6-A's Seneca and Fern Creek (in OT). Newport comes into the playoffs on a 6-game losing streak. This game will be a squash 42-6. In the past, when Manual Stadium (and before Iroquois field) was unavailable to DeSales they played home games at Southern, Fairdale and Western, although Western is also unavailable.

Marion County/ Breckinridge County Predictions
We played Breck in the rain/mud, so they pretty much lined up in the "I" (their base offense) and ran straight ahead. Defensively they had trouble with our speed, even in the slop as we ran 22 times for 362 yards. After seeing them in game prep on film, Breck is notably better than the last two seasons. But Marion's size will take it's toll and the Knights will probably chew them up in the 2nd half. Marion 41 Breck 13

Which 4 seed will pull an upset?
Have to respectfully disagree. DeSales has 24 seniors that have been down this road before. They lost a tough OT game vs. 6-A Fern Creek and a one-score game vs. 6-A Seneca, both losses vs. far better competition than Newport played. Ryan Johnson for DeSales is one of the better QB's you never heard of. Newport comes in to the playoffs on a 6-game losing streak. DeSales 45 Newport 6 As far as a 4 over a 1: Metcalfe Co. over Bardstown (2-A)

Eastern/Male
Eastern led Male at halftime of their regular season meeting then Male came out in the 2nd half and absolutely thrashed the Eagles. Eastern's really not been the same since. Male 44 Eastern 14

Simon Kenton/Butler Predictions
They were 6-0 largely in part that their out of district schedule was watered down. Gone from the previous year was Male, Trinity and Ballard. They were replaced by P.L. Dunbar, Southern and Doss and they benefited from getting Western on a sloppy track. Butler might have really gone in the tank after losing to PRP (which got them 4th place and a date with SK) and losing to Meade at home by 2 TD's last friday. I think SK will win, but not in a blowout as some are suggesting. SK 27 Butler 13

Male 27 Manual 14
No dog in this fight either, but NEVER bet against Redman when he makes it "us vs. the world". Not only Manual Stadium, but MANY fields will need much T.L.C. this week to get ready to play. The ones that are void of grass will be like a parking lot once the 1st freeze hits. Big run of sand and "diamond dry" this week around the Bluegrass.

First-round bye????
Jim, I think you answered your own question. ACS is getting punished by losing a home game concessions, ect...
-
Undefeated and winless in the 1st round.
My bad b.b.insanity, had Mason on the list, just missed them. (10-0) Mason Co. vs. (3-7) East Ridge.
-
Undefeated and winless in the 1st round.
They are playing Heath today.

Undefeated and winless in the 1st round.
Do any unbeatens get tossed in the 1st round? 2-A (10-0) Murray vs. (0-10) Todd Central (10-0) Fort Campbell vs. (4-6) Caldwell Co. (10-0) Prestonsburg vs. (1-9) Knott Central 3-A (10-0) Somerset vs. (5-5) Magoffin Co. (10-0) Mason Co. vs. (3-7) East Ridge. 4-A (9-0) Lone Oak vs. (5-5) Russell Co. (10-0) Allen-Scottsville has a bye. (10-0) Boyle Co. vs. (5-5) Bourbon Co. (10-0) Lawrence Co. vs. (7-3) McCreary Central 5-A (10-0) John Hardin vs. (2-8) Waggener (10-0) Highlands vs. Montgomery Co. Ballard 11 Western 2
I think Coach J and Ballard will too.
