Apparantly it was a mud pit. Manual had a 14-7 lead at one point and then it all went downhill in the second half.

 

Cost us the playoffs...shoot. :cry:

Male ran a fumble-rooskie and got away with it. Both Nichols and Redman mention the play in quotes in Jason Frakes game story.

However as we were watching the Insight broadcast you could see that

there was no fumble the "center" wearing eligible number 87, snaps the ball

up and holds it againts his backside while the qb and everyone else swept right. Then he takes off with the ball. There was no fumble, ball never hit the ground. To top it off, mal also had 2 people in motion on the same play, no call.

Whle that one score wasn't the deciding factor, it was a big shift in momentum

in a game that was tied at that time with less than 2 minutes remaining in the second half.

What also hurt Manual was Darmonteae Warr goin out with a minor injury, he is our best "mudder" and has had big runs in every rain game including the first play from scrimmage tonight, that he broke for an 80 yd td

Not sure how you get a "mud pit" ready other than to hope for no rain all week and especially the night of the game. It'll be interesting because I definitely think a sloppy track would affect Conner's passing offense.

I agree. I was there last night...they can try and get the pools of water sucked up, use drying agents to get the field in better shape, assuming we have a rain free week. But that field is in bad bad shape right now.

I don't have a "dog" in the fight so to speak, I was not at the game, I have not seen film of the play in question and I am not an official, so take this for what it is.

 

Before every game the officiating crew asks each head coach if there are any trick plays that they should be prepared for. You have to assume that this particular play was brought to the officials attention. If the officials felt it was legal doesn't that make the play ok?

Doesn't a person off the line have to have possession of the ball before the snapper can advance it? If the person off the line doesn't have possession, isn't it "Illegal Touching" by the snapper?

For a snap to be legal, the ball must touch a backfield player or the ground before it is touched by a lineman. Otherwise, it's an illegal snap, dead ball foul.
