Didn't see a thread on it yet... I will say that I was wrong about this. I didn't think it would get this high. It wasn't that Dayton played bad defense, it was the fact that Bracken gave up easy buckets so there were A LOT of possessions. Workman I believe had 28 for Bracken. They had another kid with 26 too. Dayton was led by Massey with 26 and Turner with 21.

I'm not in the prediction business, but I will be shocked if Dayton gives up anywhere near 90 points. The Bracken/St. Pat game was high scoring because it was run and gun...

Doesn't Bracken return everyone?

Someone may be confusing "Eastins". The Eastin from Dayton was sick, but not mono (originally thought to be mono), but he did play some minutes in this scrimmage against SGrove.

I don't agree with that.... In football you have to play 100% for about 4 seconds, then you get a 30 second break, repeat. In basketball you go all out the whole time. There are no breaks. Its very different in terms of conditioning...

Beechwood plays Cooper.... I think Lloyd plays Brossart... Silver Grove plays Dayton...

I dont' think he was putting a team down as really just stating the harsh reality. Lets face it, their soft schedule came back to bite them.... Doesn't mean it was a bad season, they did what they were supposed to for 10 weeks. Just didn't in the playoffs. It happens...

Hey fish.....go re-read the posts leading up to the game and it will be pretty clear that "Devils weren't the ones selling", but more like others from NKY. Crush.....BWood....Earth Saviour......Bellevue etc. Don't get me wrong guys, Dayton appreciates your support, but Fish, your "guess" that it was just a few hardcore/delusional Dayton fans is simply wrong. My guess is that your guess is incorrect and/or irrelevant:rolleyes:

Give the kid that got hit credit. He popped back up and was one of the only ones left chasing when the kid scored... The problem for Dayton was in tackling. Don't get me wrong, there were a few good runs, but there was lot of missed tackles... And Frankfort's D was impressive with their speed, but it was simply that Dayton was overwhelmed up front. Sherlock struggled to find time or space in the pocket, and when he did he didn't get much help from his receivers... I actually was surprised that they had as many yards as they did... I thought sure it would be less than 50... Frankfort has excellent overall team speed...

I think its nice to see all the support not only from Dayton and Frankfort, but the surrounding areas of these schools too.... I have stated, and will say again, while I think Dayton is definately peaking at the right time, I don't know that it will be enough to keep up with Frankfort all game... Lets all hope for a good well played game... Good luck to both teams...

I'll give you that and that is commendable. I'm a big SG fan as well as a fan of the "little guy" and I'm simply saying that for the most part, the smaller schools get less coverage unless there is a special talent. I simply think they (the smaller schools) are too often overlooked. JMO:thumb:

PMP....sorry buddy, but gotta disagree with you on this one. I usually agree w/you, but here's my question. Would he have come to SG "multiple" times if it wasn't for an exceptional talent in Corey? I contend not, and I believe even without Corey, SG deserves a little press regardless of their size and/or talent level (along with the Ludlows, Dayton's, Calvary's etc.) Sure the big games get MORE coverage, but the little guy still should not be ignored. As far as work on your game and get better, please don't overlook the obstacles facing the smaller guys. Many can "work on their game and get better" continuously and still not reach the Ccath-Holmes-Boone levels.:thumb:

Just to clarify real quick, I don't see too many "Dayton" people on here in the middle of the debate. Most are NKY people without a dog in the fight backing Dayton...

I actually do commend Dayton's O line very much, because they are very improved. I actually think the entire team has gotten a lot better. But this is probably one of the top 4 teams in the state in class A. If they still had some of the kids from last years team they might have a little of the speed to offset Frankfort and probably more beef up front, but they don't.... Let me be the first to say that playing playoff games in district was stupid... This is how it should be...

Frankly, it wasn't even as close as the score indicates. Carrol added those 2 late scores against Dayton's young guys... I don't want to insult anyone, but I simply don't understand exactly what Carroll was trying to do defensively. I mean, they played what looked like a 4-4, but it was more of a 4-5 because the "safety" was lining up 1 yard behind the backer, and taking a 3 step back pedal and then stepping back up most of the time. The middle of the field was wide open all night because there was no safety. The corners were in man coverage all night, except for one play, in which they looked like they tried to drop into zone, but someone forgot about the flats and Dayton took a check down for about 30 yards. Against a predominantly run team you may be able to challenge a team with that many in the box, but Dayton's strength is in the passing game, and if Carroll's coaches studied the films they should know that, and have made the defensive adjustments during the week. On top of everything, even with those 9 guys in the box, Dayton still ran fairly effectively, especially in the second half. Again, not trying to insult anyone, but it was truly bizarre. It really took me awhile of watching to actually believe that they weren't going to put ANYONE in the middle of the field... No safety... Ever...

If he started for CC last season, won't he have to sit out this year?

McIntosh graduated. Huninghake didn't contribute much. Their best returning player is going to be the big kid that played in the post, Young I think is his name...

Tim Ohara and Jon Campbell in the 9th. Pouncy is a rising star as well. I agree Chappie is pretty good, but he may be losing a step or 2 these days. Campbell is not officiating 9th this year from what I hear, but is very good, and as for Pouncy, I've seen him excellent in some "big" games, but seems somewhat "lethargic" in the not so big games/schools. What separates O'hara from Pouncy is O'hara gives the same effort no matter the size of the school or the "importance" of the game, and I don't always see that from Pouncy. IMO

Why exactly is the ranking system a joke? As far as the ninth goes, Campbell and O'Hara were the class of the region in terms of officiating, and Campbell has moved on to college. Personally I'm not a big fan of Pouncy as one of the best, but there are worse.

Their freshman QB was a kid named Rogg... I heard the Schwerjohn kid was playing line now?

Dayton/Bellevue is one of the oldest, but is the most played game in the state.
