  1. They do have a freshman team. They have about 6 or 7 guys with an 8th grader or two playing up. No eighth grader is playing higher than freshmen though. I think a couple guys play freshmen and JV and dress varsity. This actually was an extremely successful group through grade school and middle school, but I'm pretty sure in the past year and a half or two years they have lost a starter to disciplinary issues, another who transferred schools, and another who is playing significant varsity minutes and the entire JV game...
  2. Must have been another off night...
  3. Let me ask ya something real quick. Have you ever been in a pre game "captain's meeting" at half court as a captain, coach, or official? Every game begins with one and the officials pull out a small green card and read directly off of it. Part of the statement includes quote "...any acts deemed unsportsmanlike such as taunting, baiting or trash talking will be immediately assesed with a technical foul. This is your final warning." I will go back to what I said in one of my first post. It wasn't the best officiated game, but at least it was consistantly bad on both sides. Where the game was played had nothing to do with the calls that were/weren't made. If the game was at Lloyd, would they have called more holds in the backcourt when Lloyd had two hands on? No. Bottom line, they (Lloyd) were outplayed for all of the game minus about a three minute stretch. They would have been if this game was played at Dayton, at Lloyd, or at the Chinese Embassy. Doesn't matter. They were outplayed. There is nothing more to argue here...
  4. This is really getting ridiculous now, and I'm sure this thread will be shut down soon anyways, but that really is funny. You really think that one of the higher ranking officials in the ninth region let a student section con him into making a call? And that they "gave" the game to Dayton, when Dayton had led the entire game by as much as 14 or 15 points? C'mon... Think about what your saying... Oh, and about the Dayton bench, I guess they are supposed to sit there and not get excited about things. They didn't ever leave the bench. All the did was jump up and down and get excited for their team. Thats what good teams do...
  5. I'm not here to argue student sections... Or football season.... For the record, Dayton doesn't even have a football student section. And the band issue is far run its course... I'm not bragging about anything. I wasn't in the student section, nor do I know what they said. I said that when you bring a student section in to someone elses house, don't be surprised at what you hear.
  6. In the first post it sounds an awful lot like you weren't at the game. In the second post it sounds like you were... hmmm.... Dayton never chest bumped after the foul shots. I don't know what the student sections chanted because I actually was paying attention to the game... But any chant about a football game would probably have been induced by a "Lets play football" chant, which is drawing the attention away from the basketball issue at hand anyways. And as far as student sections go anyways Lloyd shouldn't have much to say theirs is one of rudest crudest most inappropriate in NKY and everyone that plays there knows it. When you bring a student section into someone elses house you know that you are walking on eggshells so they should have been prepared. And where are these much better teams that they put the great numbers up against? Dec 2, 08 Spencer County home 65 - 50 (W) no Dec 5, 08 Villa Madonna away 82 - 67 (W) no Dec 12, 08 Dayton away 59 - 65 (L) no Dec 13, 08 Oldham County away 45 - 59 (L) no Where are the much better teams? Spencer County? They start a few freshmen and an 8th grader. Villa? The biggest one man band in NKY? Unless the KHSAA scoreboard is wrong thats all the games they've played. Seems like they have lost to two better teams and beat two inferior teams.... Sorry but its sounds like you don't really know when to give credit when credit is due. Everyone on here has said that Lloyd didn't play bad, but Dayton played better...
  7. True....the kids should decide the game and in this case, while it was an unfortunate call, the kids still did decide the game. The team that won was ahead the entire game and played the better overall game that night. As far as "home court" officiating, I believe 9th region officials are assigned to all locations, not picked by the home team:irked: Give credit where credit is due. Good win Dayton!
  8. I don't know.... Maybe there was, but it would've had to be from both players because there were 2 technicals called and Dayton shot 4 shots...
  9. It went something like Lloyd (who had trailed the entire game) had cut the lead to two and then caused a turnover with less than a minute left. The kid that caused the turnover turned around and and then he and a teammate jumped and gave it a "chest bump." One of the officials saw it and gave a technical to 'em both for excessive celebration/taunting. Dayton hit the FT's and got the ball and it pretty much put the game on ice.
  10. Not to sound bitter, but why is it that if Lloyd loses to Dayton the first thing said is "Lloyd must be down." Lloyd isn't down. Dayton is up. Mustang can probably attest to that in that apparently Brossart played Lloyd this year and I know he commented in the past about Dayton's "potential." As far as the end of the game, I don't know that I agree with the T's given, but I also don't agree with all the "hands on" Lloyd was able to get in the last 4 minutes. Up until then they weren't doing it and Dayton's guards were taking Lloyd's off the dribble every time. They let them get two hands on and they were getting steals. It wasn't the greatest officiating game in the history of the KHSAA, but when they were bad, they were consistantly bad. And I'd much rather see that than not every having a clue what kind of calls were coming. And to comment on if Lloyd was at 100%, they had all of their players at their disposal, but for some reason Cheatum, who is one of their bigger threats especially with his height and athleticism, didn't play in the fourth quarter. It looked like he may have done something to frustrate their coach...
  11. May be, but they were 2-0 entering this game.
  12. Massey had a decent game, and Eastin sat until midway through the 3rd quarter for disciplinary reasons I heard
  13. Final Good win for Dayton. Everyone in the prediction thread would've been wrong...
  14. Like a couple people have said, Bellevue/Dayton is one of the biggest and most emotional. As far as NKY goes, CovCath/Highlands and Bellevue/Dayton are widely considered 1 and 1A as far as rivaries. Frankly, with these schools it doesn't matter if they are playing football, hoops, marbles, or pinochle, they don't wanna lose. They just don't like each other....
  15. I don't think Brown is terrible. They couldn't handle Iroquois' press. And even when Iroquois doesn't play full court defense they are still pressuring the ball. I bet Brown's turnover # was very high...
  16. Surprised that Bracken was held to this low of a score.... Is Craft the one that plays JV too?
  17. Dayton didn't play well enough to win, but it wasn't as bad as this score indicates. With about 2 minutes left in the third they cut it to 4, and had a chance to cut it to 2 but missed a layup. Beechwood called a Time Out, came back with a big run, and from then on Dayton went quietly. Massey played decent offensively and showed some inside outside versatility. Romes is one of the top defenders in the region. Frustrated Eastin pretty much all night except for a few times in the third quarter when I think he scored 8 of his ten. And a lot of those were off sloppy Beechwood turnovers. Beuttel is their best scorer. High basketball IQ... The best thing the big kid does is alter shots. I thought he may have been more suceptable to fouls if they would have went at him instead of avoiding the contact. Didn't shoot from anywhere outside 5 feet. Personally was more impressed with the Snyder kid as an inside player. Beechwood uses their length well on defense. It was what disrupted Dayton's offense. Seemingly everyone for the Tigers shoot well from 3. It didn't cause them to lose, but the FT count didn't help Dayton either... Both these teams have potential to win a lot of games in DIII...
  18. Can someone please fill me in on how they played this game????? I heard BW cancelled the Frosh game vs. Dayton due to lack of players who were yet to be released from Football. Anyone know anything?
  19. Hold on one second... What do you know of Dayton other than what you read on here. They have AT LEAST two kids over 6'2 on the roster, closer to 6'4''. Don't get me wrong, the kids aren't giants, but they have better size than normal. They may still struggle with a legit 6'7'' post player... What do you know about that 39 point game last year? Do you know that Eastin and Massey both didn't play, while they were also missing a senior who scored about 10 a game last year? Do you know that those were their top 3 scorers last year? Do you realize that that game was the height of their injury depleted season and they dressed around 5 eighth grade kids for the VARSITY game? I make no predictions, and agree with you a lot. But it seems like you are judging a team by one game from 10 months ago...
  20. According to KHSAA.org.... Dec 9, 08 Beechwood away 7:30 PM
  21. He had about 10 or 12. Bracken focused on him, and it opened it up a lot for big games by the other two...
