Do the girls give out Defensive awards and Hustle awards like the boys?

I was just referencing that while they may not have as much talent as teams like Boone or Holmes I could see them stealing one from them because of the way they play defense and execute...

IMO Highlands doesn't have an overwhelming amount of exceptional talent, but they play good defense and execute well.

Because they are looking for a recording artists, not just a singer. The judges won't be there to hold their hand through a career and say "sing this" "Don't sing that." It's part of being a musician. As for Allison and Adam being the class of the competition... Did you watch last week? Danny and Alexis were both very good. And Michael wasn't bad either. I think as a group of 3 last week blows this week away, though I did think that Allison this week was good and has potential to get a whole lot better.

Why shouldn't we? Maybe not look down on, but I would definitely think less of a kid that is a constant trash talker or yelling at the officials than one that just plays the game. There are kids out there like that you know...

Not being negative at all toward Beechwood....simply trying to provide a reasonable possibility as to why they didn't get their fair share. And I have no reason to be defensive about it, because I have no horse in the race. I root for Dayton and they didn't even have people in the running to my knowledge. They won several games this year, but lost to Beechwood and Calvary (both times I think). Individual and team are different when it comes to awards like it or not:isurrender:

Disagree....easy to have the best TEAM, but not the best players. It's not an individual sport, it's a team sport. Don't think the coaches should be embarrased at all. Apparently all have seen all the players that were nominated, and that's what they base their decision on I assume. There may be more to it, as far as whether some players are head cases or punks, or simply some may give a coach a reason not to vote him high on the list, but it isn't one coach.....it's all.

The bold is where you are wrong. There is a lot of things that aren't called, doesn't mean they didn't happen. OJ wasn't found guilty, that doesn't mean he didn't do it. The goaltend was a goaltend that wasn't called. Ridiculous that it wasn't called, but tough break. I've talked to non bias people, to Dayton people, and to Newport people, and they all agree that it was a tough break that the goal tend that wasn't called. So I guess I'm kinda done arguing about it because I'm not looking for justification from anyone else. I know what happened. So do a lot of other people....

Thats interesting considering Holmes just moved into 4A from 5A... I don't think they will let the boys move up to D2 and the girls stay in D3 and I don't thik they should either. If they want to move up they should all move up. But it could possible because isn't the coaches association different for boys and girls ?

I think they can move up provided they do in boys/girls sports and go through the proper procedures. I think Highland FB plays what... 4A or 5A schedule with 2A enrollment? Help me out Bird fans.

What I think about this is that since the DIII coaches vote, they only see him twice..maybe three time per year, and possibly he had a few off games defensively against 1 or 2 teams. Wouldn't take much to push him into 2nd place, particularly if his best efforts may have been vs. DI or DII teams which did not vote for DIII candidates....just a thought

Were you there????????? If so, you are blinded by facts, because we never want the facts to get in the way of your opinion, and if not, you can't comment intelligently about the facts. I'll repeat....ask Newport's coaches and players. Newport won, Dayton lost, and Newport moves on. Can't unring the bell. As far as your comment above, that's inaccurate as well, because we don't want to go there about fouls that could have/should have been called on either team and I'll leave it at that.:irked:

BTW......there's a difference in "excuses and facts". Was simply stating a fact that there was a crucial missed goaltend:thumb:

Ball coming off the backboard on a layup clearly on the rim heading into the cylinder when it was smacked out by the trailing defender.....simply a missed call, and sportsgoon is right, one play don't make a game, but in a crucial situation of a tight game, that sure didn't help their cause. Just seems like a call that one of the three officials should have seen. Not sure what they were looking at, but everyone else saw it and one of Newports coaches was overheard talking about it as well. Buttels saw it best from above the rim where he was broadcasting according to his earlier post. But as was mentioned........it's over. Good luck cats as your progress.
