  1. I remember watching the PRP-South Laurel game from about 20 rows up in the endzone where Walt Allen made that final lay up. I remember just sitting there scratching my head right after it happened trying to contemplate everything that had happened in those last few seconds. It seems that some PRP players celebrated a little too early, and that was how Allen got the lay in. I thought sure that Spillman and Jazz Neal were going to take it back to PRP that year the way they were playing... Didn't Lofton play a 3 OT game on Saturday morning during the year that Warren Central won it? Seems like they played Trinity and they had 2 brothers that were really good. I'm thinking that Trinity looked to have it wrapped up a couple times and that Lofton hit 2 threes in about the last 20 seconds to send it into one of the OT's....
  2. I struggle to understand how Dayton would be separated from Bellevue and Newport seeing that all three schools are about a mile and a half away from each other...
  3. Have you seen every point guard that will be at the state tourney?
  4. Right now I think it's Wade... His performances lately are unbelievable...
  5. One thing that maybe has already been pointed out but I feel a need to emphasize. When you are playing in region, teams scheme against you and say "this is what we are going to do to play with them." When you get to Rupp, teams are established, and they say "We are going to do what we do, the heck with what they do." That is where the divide is coming in in this thread. Being a ninth region guy I feel the need to point out that while Holmes bread and butter is defensive game, they sure can play the uptempo pretty well too. The question is, if they force the defensive game on someone else, will the someone else be able to adapt. And don't say "well there is no way they let that tempo happen"... Because it's March. Anything can happen...
  6. Just throwing this out because I know that Obie1 was at the NC/Holmes game last week and can probably attest to this as well... I personally watched Conner, who is as good if not the best shooter as there is in the entire region, make 10 for 10 on 3's in warmups and then hit his first 2 in the game. Holmes took notice and he didn't make another the rest of the game I don't believe. And that was with a big guy drawing double teams inside. Just saying because it showed that Holmes adjusted to good shooters.... Fair enough...
  7. How many teams in the sweet 16 have you seen? Ballard didn't make it...?
  8. I really liked it. It's a great warm up for Rupp. Only thing I didn't like was concession prices...
  9. I think that rule is confused with the over and back rule. Doesn't the player have to have both feet established over the half court line to receive a pass from over the half court line?
  10. Around what age is he? Any possibility he just might be done with coaching? How long has he been coaching? How long has he been coaching at Highlands? I don't know anything just analyzing the situation...
  11. I've heard from many people that PCB during spring break is one of the most crazy experiences someone can have... That can be a good or bad thing depending on the person...
  12. I read in the paper today about the Sandfoss girl playing with a broken hand. That has to be one of the most gutsy things I've heard about in a while. It's one thing to play after you think you've done something, it's quite another to know very well that you are injured badly and still play... Especially being a ball handler.... Congrats to Boone...
  13. Isn't he from Dayton? Why would he leave?
  14. I don't know, maybe... I was sitting 5 rows behind their bench and noticed it a few times but didn't think it was that bad. Maybe it was just me...
  15. You didn't see all the screens they tried to run him off? They set a whole bunch of screens for him, the Holmes players got through them... For the record I don't know where all this talk has come from about how NC could've done better or didn't have a good game plan, etc. They didn't get outhustled, they didn't get outcoached, what they got was they got out-talented, Holmes tends to do that to folks... NC shoudn't have any regrets though IMO...
  16. I think that was the problem... She saw the kid completely reaching around the guy to get to the ball and you can't well do that without fouling...
  17. I, for one, thought it was a pretty good game by both teams and that the better team came out on top. I thought the dunk was big momentum for Boone, and that Grubbs couldn't be on the floor in the second half because they needed speed and ball handling to press and handle the press. I didn't think that the officials were "putrid" at all. Just because the female referee was adamant about her call didn't mean she was showing off, she was showing confidence. There were a couple calls that I didn't agree with, but every game has them. For one, that charge wasn't a charge, though that has been discussed. One that I thought made a difference that hasn't been however, was when the kid drove the basket right before Boone got the outlet for the dunk. I thought the Highlands kid got hit on the shot; thus he airballed the shot, Cotton got the runout and the dunk and all of a sudden Boone has a lot of mo.... All that said, I didn't like the bald official at all. Seemed like he was worried about he wrong things. I am by no means a Highlands fan but if I was I would have lost it when he told their coach to "stop yelling 'and one' because we can ref the game." Seemed pretty pompous to me...
  18. Just my opinion but it seemed to me like Housely never gave it up to Pittman because M. Giesler never committed to him so he didn't stop him drive; seemed like a smart play to me... Though they probably could've just backed it out and let the clock run out...
  19. I agree with a lot of this. After that intentional foul, they made both free throws and then got another basket to go up six. I'm thinking that on NC's next possesion Pittman pinned a lay up against the glass too for even more momentum. I too thought the officiating was pretty good. The only question I had was on that call because I thought they got some ball, but what LABS said makes sense... FWIW, I was sitting near a few NC fans at the end of the game and when Housely was going to the rim I heard "Don't let him dunk it!" If you are going to say that, then I don't think you can complain about an intentional foul. I thought that Holmes sometimes settled for jumpshots when they would've been better served to attack the rim like Rico did in the fourth quarter.
  20. You should have seen him at the district championship... Just ask Highlands...
