  1. Dayton's defense was horrible and for a team with talent, they appear to exhibit lackluster heart and desire, as twice in the past couple weeks they simply were outhustled by the opponent in the last minute of the game when they allowed crucial rebounds by the opponent off of free throws. Thus...losses. In last night's game, they actually let a ball hit the floor without attempting to rebound it in a crucial time...down by a bucket maybe with a minute left. For this team to play to their abilities and be something special (I think they have 4 or 5 returning next year), they are going to have to show some desire and improve defensively. Not sure how many points Villa's PG had, but it had to be close to 50 :puke:
  2. After last night, I'd really like to see Oklahoma play Pitt to see the Griffin/Blair matchup...
  3. My question is how do you stop Blair? With the reportoire of moves he showed last night with his strenght, unless he is in foul trouble I don't know what you could do. I mean I would try once to draw the charge when he drops the shoulder to see if they call it, but if they don't....
  4. I don't think the formula for beating Villa is rocket science, its just not easy. Make Bryan shoot with a hand in his face from the outside and step up and make him shoot mid range jumpers instead of getting to the rim. And bumping and hedging throughout the lane would probably frustrate him too. Other than that, don't let Schuh set his feet outside the three point line. There isn't much offense other than that. The problem is, Bryan is very good at getting to the basket. It'll be interesting to see who Dayton puts on him, and what kind of defense they will play...
  5. We'll simply agree to disagree with one final comment: Football players aren't necessarily basketball players, and there are in fact Ohio small schools that while they may have a team, they simply can't compete, because they are bodies....not players, and I agree whole heartedly with your KHSAA opinion.
  6. Very boring game. Neither team shot particularly well, but Dayton probably doubled Bellevue in rebounds, and Bellevue probably doubled Dayton in turnovers. Cody Turner played well for Dayton... Not sure if anyone else hit double digits.
  7. Heard a fight broke out at this one? Is that accurate?
  8. First of all, there wasn't an "argument", simply an answer to a question posed, and I have seen many years where the SGroves, Dayton's, Ludlow's etc. had to utilize 8th graders in "roles" such as bench personnel simply to have enough players to compete. Secondly, I'm not convinced that "most" states don't allow it. You'll need to prove that one to me, and thirdly, what makes you the judge of "why should we start doing things the right way now" Is the right way simply your way?????????? We all don't have the enrollment of Highlands, and like it or not, small schools will be around a while.:irked:
  9. Moral of the story=Never share a taxi....
  10. Roger Mason has hit some big shots for the Spurs this year...
  11. At the moment I believe they lack a coach, which doesn't help in the recruiting sector...
  12. :lol: :lol::laugh::ylsuper::thumb::taz::clap::clap::banana::banana::dancingpa:dancingpa:jump::jump::jump::jump:
  13. Are they "PLAYING" varsity, or serving in a varsity role....i.e. some varsity minutes. Several smaller schools need the younger kids to contribute at the upper levels, and still play consistently at their level simply due to enrollment numbers.
  14. Dayton and Calvary have almost become a "rivalry" of sorts. They always play close games, and appear to have a mutual resapect for one another. This one was tough on the Dayton faithful simply because Dayton outscored them handily from the floor, but were outscored from the foul line by 14 points. Free throws.........Dayton shot 5 or 6 I think, and Cal. Shot 21. OUCH:idunno:
  15. I thought Smith was considered by a lot of people to be more of a 2?
  16. :lol: I did more homework than just that.... Is this a kid that will be a hard sell to get out of the SEC?
  17. 6' Point Guard out of Birmingham... 4 star rated as the 12th ranked PG in the 2009 class. I've heard he has interest in UK and Cincinnati after verballing to Ole Miss in October and changing his mind 2 hours later only to end up elimnating them. From what I've seen he looks like a guy that could help either team right away. Anyone hear anything about this guy?
  18. Eastin with 16 for Dayton. St. Blanchard has 21 for Heritage.
  19. I guess I'll say here what I said in the other favorite player thread... Both played with such power and emotion. Energized their whole team. They had that swagger about them. When they took the court they were bigger, stronger, and 95% of the time better than their opponents. They knew it, and so did that helpless guy that was trying to defend them... or his friend that thought he had an open lay up....
