Middletown was very good last year, but they lose 3 or 4 D1 players from that team. I don't know what they have returning but I think it's a good week 1 matchup for SK. Henry Clay will be tough. New Richmond is not very good. They don't really play anybody.

Brady Reese will be the QB. He is much faster than Erp but is not as good passing. The game versus Ryle will be a great game. There is no way this team will only finish .500. The past three years CCH has had very good freshman teams. The backfield will be loaded with Gray, Slabaugh, Leo, and Beatrice, they have the best WR in NKY in Connelly, and an Oline that returns 5 players with varsity experience, Cary Thaxton 5'10" 225, Bradley Way 6'0" 270, Evan Kuderer 6'2" 280, Max Halpin 6'2" 265, and Tim Connaughton 6'3" 270. The Defense is going to be very good this year. Troy Timmerman will be one of the best D lineman in the area this year, 6'3" 245, and very fast.

I agree they will be very good, but I just think CovCath is really going to be special this year. Nobody is talking about them but they have a ton of returning talent.

I think a 3 year winning streak against NKY opponents is a great reason to rank a team #1. The fact that they are talented goes without saying, it's Highlands, they will always have very talented teams. Untill they lose they should be #1. With that said I don't think they are head and shoulders above the rest of NKY this year. I don't think they will win state:sssh:

1.Highlands 2a. Covington Catholic 2b. Ryle 4. Simon Kenton 5. Newport Catholic 6. Dixie 7. Beechwood 8. Holmes 9. Boone County 10. Campbell County I think SK will be good this year, just not great like they were the last two years. I'm uncertain who goes #2 but I guess we'll find out week 1 when CovCath and Ryle play at Nippert Stadium. Highlands deserves the #1 right now because of their success the last three years, but I don't think they will be #1 at the end of the season. Holmes could really make a run in the playoffs this year, I know they have some great young talent returning. This list might look completely different week 7 or 8.

Wellbrock has been in contact with a few D3 schools. Such as Hanover and California Lutheran. And also a D2 school in Pennsylvania by the name of Seton Hill. And will be visiting Hanover and Seton Hill

If Bir starts then Brady Reese would be a nice WR or DB.

They have a stable of running backs with Leo, Slabaugh, Gray, and Beatrice. I'd look for Gabe Gray to be the main focus, he will put up huge numbers this year. Leo also will play LB and I wouldn't be surprised to see Slabaugh play a little receiver as well as DB. The Oline is solid with Thaxton, Way, Connaughton, Kuderer, and Halpin all lettering last season. Troy Timmerman will be a beast on the Dline. Paul Ritter, Travis Conner, and Alex Cosby return in the secondary. Alex Connelly will be the best wide receiver in NKY. Look for Best, Massie, and McDowell to have good years at WR as well. The only question is QB with Reese, Bir, and Lankheit all playing baseball I havent had the chance to see them practice yet.

Can any of you just enjoy a game for what it's worth? Who cares how bad both teams played, the game was enjoyable regardless. Yeah the offense was sloppy but you have to give credit to both team on some great defense all game. Not to mention it has got to be a little tough getting your shooting touch in the first game with that kind of backdrop. Good win for the colonels.

Logan Martin will have a big junior year if he has a good offseason. I look for him and Tallon to lead the O and D lines.

CovCath- Kevin Connaughton signed with Georgetown

There are no plans to demolish the church. It is a 30,000 sq foot building and I heard that Mr. Griffin would like to see some alumni development offices in the building. There are also several large classrooms that could be used for the fine arts program.

Actually I'd give most of the credit to Hudepohl for shutting down Pangallo. Hudepohl played solid D for almost three whole quarters on the kid and he only had 5 on him. Hats off to both Hudepohl and Connelly on great defensive efforts.

Alex was a pretty good freshman basketball player, deadly from behind the arch. It's a shame Coach L decided to cut him because the team could really use a 3pt specialist.

Name 10 teams better than CCH

The defense was on the field for pretty much the entire first half. Any team would have been worn down.

Cov Cath's QB (Erpenbeck) separated his shoulder against Ryle. Not sure how serious it was or if he'll play this week.

CCH did not run rule St. Henry. It was 10-2 in seven innings.
