Final in the 1st Round at BOK Arena.

 

This was a fantastic game. The Cru came back strong and had a shot to put it away due to CovCath's inability as well to put it away.

 

Thelen had 16 for the Colonels.

 

Anderson had 12 for the Cru.

Barnett also had 12 points.

 

Stephen Wilson's big shot off the glass was huge there in the 2nd OT and the goaltending call was the 2pt difference at the end.

Great game by both teams.

It was obviously a great game to watch but ... 40-38 in double OT?

WOW! I stayed through three quarters and Cov Cath was in total control! St Henry seemed over-matched, but they were hanging just close enough. The entire game was pretty sloppy and a bit boring at times, but both teams were giving it their all. Since, I have to get up at 4am for work tomorrow I do not feel bad about leaving early, but I would never have guessed this outcome.

The inability of high school players to feed the post never ceases to amaze me. Give credit to #44 for SHDHS for his steals but he did the exact same defensive move every time and yet the pass kept going to the same/wrong spot. Thelen had 2 to 3 inches on the guy and then never once lobbed it up for him.

 

In OT, for some reason CCH decided they'd start chucking up outside shots despite not hitting ANY during the first 4 quarters. Clankers and airballs.

 

CCH is lucky they had the size advantage because SHDHS got past the perimeter and got inside but Thelen and Wellbrock blocked a lot of shots.

 

If my memory is correct CCH scored 2 points in the 4th qtr, 2 points in the first OT, and 4 in the 2nd OT. And won.

 

So, to end on a positive note, they won.

Much credit to St. Henry for really fighting to get back and get in a position to win. Very tough break for the Cru at the end and let's leave it at that. Overall, the game was only exciting due to futile play by both teams balancing out over the course of a game. CC was colder than ice during the 4th qr and 2 ot's. It was a very ugly performance. However, congrats to CC on winning an exciting yet poorly-played game.

BTW, does St. Henry always shoot that many 3's?

 

They seemed content to do that at the beginning of the game. Late, they started attacking and that led to the comeback.

 

Free throw shooting was horrible from both teams. St. Henry missed two front ends of a one and one late in the game that could've tied or given them the lead.

CovCath moves on to play Newport @ The BOKC on Saturday March 6th. This game will be the first of two that is being played Saturday. CovCath vs. Newport game will tip off @ 6pm, while the second game of the night will start @ 7:30pm.

Personallhy I thought the Crazies provided the most entertainment tonight and I love to watch good basketball games. Hopefully the colonels play better against Newport or they will get blown out of the gym. Congrats thought Colonels on the win!

Yea, I understand that, but I have seen 4th grade teams play better than tghe teams on the floor tonight in this game.

A win, is a win, is a win and at this point in the season, all it matters is to win and advance! Even though CovCath won ugly, it was a win and they advance!

 

Anyone who missed the Crazies tonight missed a lot. As I said earlier in the week! You want Cheering? You want the Wave? You want the Fight? You want the Hulk? You want the Rollercoaster? You want the BOKC to be loud? If so, you then want the Crazies in the House!

 

My guess is the BOKC has never seen/heard a HS student section so loud!
