In what amounts to a half of basketball from the end of the 3rd quarter to the end of the game (the 4th quarter plus 2 4:00 overtime periods), the Colonels scored scored 8 points. Saying they were lucky to win is a gross understatement.

I thought the comeback by the Cru was fantastic. The overall play of both teams was somewhat woeful. Cov Cath turns the ball over too much and do not have any outside shooters whatsoever. The Cru couldn't hit the ocean from the beach during their sorry 1st half. Ill advised shots when tge Colonels had the lead. Heck one was an airball.

 

Newport should handle the Colonels.

 

 

On a positive note CCH's D was very good tonight at cutting off the inside passes and in blocking shots.

 

Any idea how many blocks CCH had?

Crusaders struggled early but in the 2nd half they got back in it with great D and much better rebounding in the 4th qtr. 2 things Coach Faust demands with his teams. Surprisingly this Crusader team usually puts up good numbers in the pts column by making 3pters and pushing the ball up and down the floor. Tonight just too many turnovers kept them from scoring "early and often".

 

One note I'd like to make. Heroic effort by Ryan Anderson tonight. I've been saying for 2years Ryan is one the of most underrated players in the region and I think after tonight some will finally agree with me. And besides that Ryan is a first class student athlete on and off the floor that comes from a great family. Hope he continues getting better and would love see him playing ball in college next year. One BGPer knows where I'd like to see him do that at

 

Last but most important. I want to say congrats and thank you to this years fabulous group of seniors at St Henry. You showed us this season what St Henry basketball is about. You played extremely hard every game. Gave your all and represented the St Henry program with lots of class. Im proud to say I coached most of you for 1 or 2 summers and got to know you each individually. You all are great young men on and off the basketball floor.

But then how many did St. Henry score in the two OT's? That's right, one less basket than CovCath did in the 2nd OT's, and that is all that matters.

Rusty and Zach Schilling did have the St. Henry cheerleaders standing in front of them.

Colonels had 28 points with 6 minutes to go in the 3rd. They scored 12 points in the next 22 minutes of play.

Wellbrock definitely has some ups. How about Connelly's tomahawk jam in warm ups. Impressive indeed.

Can any of you just enjoy a game for what it's worth? Who cares how bad both teams played, the game was enjoyable regardless. Yeah the offense was sloppy but you have to give credit to both team on some great defense all game. Not to mention it has got to be a little tough getting your shooting touch in the first game with that kind of backdrop. Good win for the colonels.
