Yeah no doubt it was a goaltending and they got it right. But how bout the speed, athleticism of Benny Bessler. He just WOWs me when I watch him. He never sits out a play when he's on the floor. He gives so much effort. I can't imagine how tired I would have been if I'd give that effort 100% of the time when I played sports.

This whole NKY area is down in all sports girls and guys ,For the girls I donot think there is one girl that can play D1 ball in the 9th , The guys only the Bulldogs have any body that can play D1 . In Football its way down Highlands keeps NKY in the news nobody else .Go on and try to prove me wrong but open your eyes and ask some of the guys that played in years past they will laugh at the way the kids play [ ITS JUCK] ......Now go ahead and take up for little jimmy and bobby jean LOL .......

Ben did everything I knew he would do, to win this game for St. Henry! Ben is indeed a class act and I can say the same for Alex. I have watched both young men grow up from afar as a IMH Parish member, and I wish only the best for both of them and their parents, in what ever they choose to do at the next level!

 

Be proud of what you accomplished Ben and Alex for neither of you have any reason to hang your heads! Again good luck and God speed!

I played in the past. You couldn't be more off base. You seem to want to prove a point. But yet you don't present a case. Why don't you put forth an era in NKY sports that you think is better? As far as basketball, I think the real determing factor is how well the region is represented in the Sweet 16. I challenge you to give me an era that surpasses the last couple of years in NKY. As far as girls, same thing. I don't recall NKY ever being really strong there. Football? Come on. SK had one of the strongest 6A teams ever in NKY. Highlands is on a roll that is becoming unprecedented even for them. Bellevue and NCC while didn't bring home the hardware, are top state programs in their respective classes. Soccer? You must not follow this sport. D1 athletes? There are very rarely more than a couple of D1s year in and year out. So let's hear it. When as a whole was NKY high school athletics at markedly higher standard than now?

I would have to look up the actual definition of a block to be sure, but when I was a spotter for UC mens' and womens' games, I was told that a block is only recorded if the ball actually leaves the shooter's hand, otherwise it is just a deflection (not a recorded stat) or if the "deflector" gets the ball it would be a steal.

 

Not sure if CovCath's stat people are using that definition or not which would be the reason you would think it was a low number. I am not saying anyone's way of keeping stats is right or wrong, but that is how I was instructed.

I think NKY high school sports are in very good shape, with the exception of some of the transfer stuff that goes on and the inconsistencies dealing with it.

In particular, I have been very impressed with the play and conduct of the 2010 senior class in their respective sports this year. The athletes compete hard and respect each other after. We should be proud of that.

goldandblack, as long as the kids who are playing the games enjoy and learn from playing them, then who really cares what era was better or worse. Truly not many from any era went on to the Pros to play, but many, many young men and women got to attend college be it D1 or NAIA because of playing HS sports from NKy!

These two teams poored their heart and soul into this game. Fans did as well. Regardless of the quality of play it is what makes High School sports the most exciting and colorful level to watch. Defensively I have never seen a better game, both teams were rock solid and made it hard to even advance the ball once the half court line was crossed. Hats off to both.

 

Can't wait to see what comes next at the BOK. Everyone needs to get on out to see these young men perform. Holmes, NCC, Dixie and Boone are ready to entertain us this evening.

CovCath got lucky.

Their guard play is awful and their FT shooting is even worse.

Fortunate CovCath had those refs, especially in first half. Was like hockey on the baseline with the bigger team benefitting, but overall the refs seemed to be enjoying the spotlight more than they should have. Seen that more than a few times this year.
