Walter Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Newport advances to 9th Region Finals. Tucker 18, Sizemore 12, Luther 10, Collins 8, McDaniel 8
StraightShooter Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Sounds like a good game. CovCath must have played a lot better than the other night to hang with Newport. Congrats to the Cats on the nice win. They are a very good team and I'd say that most of independent fans will pull for the Cats tomorrow vs. Holmes (or Boone).
Qryche11 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Newport advances to 9th Region Finals. Tucker 18, Sizemore 12, Luther 10, Collins 8, McDaniel 8 Foster had 18....Player of the game.

NHS BIG DADDY Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 The cats played decent for the first 3 quarters but really kicked it in gear and dominated in the fourth. They got outrebounded pretty badly I thought. CCH really didnt have anyone that could check Foster and he came up big in the 4th. Sizemore had a nice game as well. McDaniel and Luther were solid as well. #25 for CCH was easily their player of the game.
Dixiedarling Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 How was the outside shooting for Covington Catholic?
Mustang Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 CovCath literally and figuratively got shot down in this one. Newport hit all the big shots in the fourth quarter when they had to have them.
RomanEmpire Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Foster is a player, very impressed with this young man. Hit a couple of big three's, and took care of the bb down the stretch.
Theoldguy Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 The story in this game, are in the stats below: 22/40 46.8% FG 00/07 00.0% 3P FG 04/07 57.1% FT Newport 09/28 40.5% FG 08/14 57.1% 3P FG 17/21 81.0% FT Leading Scorers CovCath Wellbrock 15 Evans 12 Newport Foster 20 Sizemore 12 When a team outscores you 24/0 from behind the arch, you won't win the game and while CovCath (for them) had a pretty decent night from the Charity line, Newport was outstanding! At one point I think Newport made 11 straight free throws! Newport vs. Covington Holmes @ the BOKC at 3pm Sunday March 7th Thank you Coach L for an outstanding season and I am already looking forward to next year! Good luck to both Holmes and Newport and can anyone think of the last time these two teams met in the Regional Finals? I am an Oldguy and I can't recall it, nor could Mr. Arnzen nor Mr. Madrick Finally, what a great night for High School basketball in the Ninth Region! Great games, huge crowds, it doesn't get any better than this!
Clyde Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 How was the outside shooting for Covington Catholic? Consistent
Clyde Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 I heard that Thelen had 5 assists. I'll assume they were all to Wellbrock who went 7/8 from the field. You won't find many/any 4/5 tandems that pass inside like those two do.
