Boone will be tough with Teegarden on the mound but I'm not aware of what their team looks like this year. Ryle will be solid as always. Conner lost some very good Senior's but still have talent. Cooper, IMO, will be the best they have been in a one game scenario but not sure over 5 games in one week with the pitching depth. By the end of last season they were starting a couple Junior's, 4 Soph's and a Freshman. Thompson and Bjurquist will be missed for sure.

Borchers is also the AD at Cooper so it would depend if he wanted to give that up. Plus, Dixie's AD is Wilhoit who Borchers worked under at Cooper when Wilhoit was there the first couple of years so it would depend on that relationship as well. I think Borchers has a great gig at Cooper and stays, IMO.

Perhaps the strangest game I've ever seen. All 4 of MC touchdowns were over 50 yards each, 3 on wide open passes down field and 1 running. Cooper had 3 TD's called back by penalties and all 3 were over 50 yards as well, including 105 yard INT return by Collins. Morris also threw an INT on the goal line as Cooper was about to score. A ton of flags in this game. Hard to explain how Cooper's defense in this game after playing so well most of the year. The 3 TD's given up on passes with no one within 15-20 yards of the receiver running right down the middle of the field. Congrats to MC and good luck next week. Pretty good year for Cooper as well winning their first district title.

Cooper was up 35 to 14 with a minute left. Pike had 2 interceptions in 1st half and one long TD on broken coverage. He did not seem to gain much running on Cooper's defense either. Not a good showing by Dixie but Cooper has been playing very well.

I'd say let him play and enjoy his Senior night. I would change the game plan and say you cannot run. If it's a pass play and it's not there then throw it away. They will win by a comfortable margin anyway. If he sits the next couple of weeks then gets hurt on the first play of his next game then it wouldn't matter anyway.

I think the irony is Towles came in in relief due to injury and led them to title.

If they would have had Morris at QB that game would be totally different, IMO. I'm sure you agree that Morris is ahead of the Soph Cooper QB at this stage in their career's.

I think evryone's defense has looked good against SK's offense this year.

I was half asleep last night switching between news and World Series but I believe it was Channel 12 sports reporter said "several" Elder players have been suspended the last two weeks of the season. Did anyone else hear this? They didn't say who or how many.

I was at the Middle School Cross Country race at Scott yesterday evening and those Grandparents watching their grandkids run were not having much fun either. What a mess to run in as well..

Also, I believe AJ Branch was out this game with injury and he is Cooper's best WR and DB.

I totally agree. Remember, this is the game when Morris didn't take one snap as QB for Cooper as they were trying the Sophomore so Morris could be RB. After this game they went back 100% to Morris as QB and they have swept 5A and shutout Campbell County. The first couple of games this year they only used Morris about half the snaps at QB, not saying they would have beat Ryle, etc.. but would have been better games.

Assuming Conner is the 2 seed, which round would this game take place?

More proof pre season polls mean nothing. Conner was pre season number 1 in basketball last year and finished below .500...

I hope Cooper wins but I know nothing of South Olham's team and anyone that scores 74 points has to have some talent no matter who they played. I think the Conner/ SO game was tight for a half or so and they broke a couple of long TD's to open it up. This is another stepping stone for Cooper's program to see how they handle some success. A big win over their main rival, now can they get back up for this game.

I know it sounds weird, but I almost feel sorry for the senior's at HHS. Their last year and they only get to play the 1st half in most games.

Not only is Cooper not in their District, Cooper beat this same Campbell County team 17-0 so they would probably beat SK this year.

What are the tie breakers?

I have to admit going into this game I thought Conner may win by a couple of scores. I thought 2 years ago Cooper would be the team to beat but then they had several good players unable to play and I thought it might shift back to Conner. This is a 7 point win but it "seemed" like Cooper was in control all night. Conner's 2nd TD came with the backup QB and Cooper had several penalties to keep Conner's drive alive and they were up 2 scores so they were in a little prevent it seemed. It was a hard fought game and Morris was able to stay in the whole game (normally cramps a lot) and did very well for Cooper. A nice screen pass to Collins for the final TD. Cooper's D focused on Barker and Fogle all night and did a great job controlling them and not allowing any big plays. Two good players but they needed more help.

Cooper was up 3-0 at the half. Their defense dominated and offense moved the ball but kept getting penalties. Branch dropped a TD pass before they ended up kicking the field goal. Hope Barker is ok and gets well soon. He didn't have one of his better nights and Conner's first TD came off a Fogle pass and it was tipped by Cooper in the end zone before a Conner player hauled it in. This TD came after a Cooper fumble on their 30. Lots of flags thrown all night long. Congrats to the Jag's on their first win over a Boone County school in their 4th year. Let's hope no let down against South Oldham next week.

It probably happens at several schools. Cooper's undefeated Divison 2 Frosh team from 2 years ago are missing around 6 or 7 players that either started on one side or both sides of the ball. Different reasons such as injury or focusing on another sport or just wanting to give it up.

For those of us that do not closely follow Cov Cath, who are the O-Lineman's names that played so well? We only here the skill positions on most teams.

I will be shocked if Dixie doesn't run the table in District after getting past Boone. I think Boone then Ryle and SK and Campbell will fight it out for 4th.
