Fact: Defense and Pitching because of the new bats will determine who wins the Ninth this season. CovCath Krumps who has been a master of the small ball game has to have a huge smile on his face, as small ball is the game that everybody will be playing this year as gone are the days of players batting .500 and above and too gone are the days of huge number of HR's.

 

Baseball, at least the game I know and love, will be played like it was meant to be played......with Pitching, Defense and players being smart on the base paths and at the plate by advancing runners with bunts, hitting to the opposite field and hit and run plays.

 

The games this season will be a joy to watch.

Boone will be tough with Teegarden on the mound but I'm not aware of what their team looks like this year. Ryle will be solid as always. Conner lost some very good Senior's but still have talent. Cooper, IMO, will be the best they have been in a one game scenario but not sure over 5 games in one week with the pitching depth. By the end of last season they were starting a couple Junior's, 4 Soph's and a Freshman. Thompson and Bjurquist will be missed for sure.

CovCath, Holy Cross and Beechwood will all be tough. NCC and Highlands will be tough outs. Conner, Boone County, Cooper and Ryle will battle it out in the 33rd and Dixie and St. Henry will be the favorites in the 34th. When it comes to the region, I always feel like the matchups then take precedence.
