In a miserable night for a football game, with heavy rain and temps in the mid 40's, the CovCath Frosh defeated the Simone Kenton Frosh by a score of 7-0.

 

While the weather was frightful, this game was full of outstanding plays by both team defenses.

 

CovCath twice had 1st and 10 or 1st and goal and the Pioneers came up with big stops.

Simon Kenton twice were stopped on 4th down plays by some great "D' from the Colonels.

 

Both team "O" despite the weather played rather well but neither could come up with that big play.

 

CovCath in the first half had a great chance at scoring when #99 Sam Kathman intercepted the Simon Kenton QB at around the 20 yard line and ran it back to inside the 10 yard line but SK "D" came up big.

To start the 2nd half, SK kicked off and #85 Lee McClure ran the ball back for a 81 yard TD kickoff return. A huge and important block by #18 Logan McDowell sprang McClure for the last 15 yards for the winning TD.

Even with the weather being so lousy, the play by both teams was worth seeing.

Not so worried about the kids as they will be fine but the parents/grandparents sitting in the stands, those I worry about! The kids are young, but some of the adults....well.

Great game in conditions only a duck could love! The defensive effort from both teams was outstanding...

Another great game by the CovCath defense.

The CovCath offense just leaves to many points on the field.

The CovCath play calling at times is playing not lose, it cost them IMO the game against Dixie.

It now appears there will be no championship game with the 5 way tie, so I hope CovCath picks up a game for next week.

CovCath plays 20+ kids, but the rest have not played in 4-5 weeks, and this would be a great way to play those kids.

And if additional games are scheduled both teams should agree that all kids play at least a quarter.

All in all a very good year for the Colonels and the future is very bright for them.

#85 for CovCath can flat out fly. I look forward to seeing him the next three years. Also congrats to the Wagners on a great Frosh season. Now they get to practice and experience what a playoff run feels like.

I was at the Middle School Cross Country race at Scott yesterday evening and those Grandparents watching their grandkids run were not having much fun either. What a mess to run in as well..

I said at the beginning of the year that was a fast CovCath team, but is a young group of kids as for santa will not be bringing any razors for Christmas.

These kids are not great but are very good to good football players.

That is correct. I also understand that Dixie is going to be playing Boone next week as well. Two very good football games for all four frosh teams to finish the season.

C-Boys78 will have to disagree with you on the team speed of this years Frosh team. IMO, the last two years were much faster and over all much bigger.

 

Now in saying that, what this class does have is football players, who play football and not basketball players or other sport players, who will give up playing football to play other sports. Now nothing wrong with playing other sports but these players seem to be football first kids.

 

BTW from this group of "O-linemen" I am excepting some great things in the future!

 

If some of the young men like Jack Schrage, Nico Pangallo and Luke Zajac get some razors from Santa, WOW!
