The records for Dixie are not correct. Not sure where they came from but if they came from the KHSAA website not all games played are recorded there. I know that in 2005 Dixie's actual record was 23-8 and their 2004 record was 25-7. Not sure about the other years.

Nichols has been one of the bright spots for Dixie this year. With the year that Dixie is having he doesn't get mentioned as much as some players on better teams but he is very good.

Somebody from CovCath needs to report Popham's stats.

Drove by Turkeyfoot at 1:30 and saw a team in orange and black playing a team in blue so it looks like Ryle vs Highlands at Turkeyfoot.

I wasn't at the game but my son was. He told me (prior to this thread being created) that the ball beat Maloney to the plate, Maloney slid head first and Maloney's shoulder caught one of the catcher's legs which twisted the catcher around. The collision caused the catcher to drop the ball so Maloney was safe. He said that Maloney's foot which was up in the air as he dove for the plate caught the catcher's face as the catcher was twisted around.

Dixie's pitching is young. I believe Cahill is a SO. Nicholls is a JR. and I believe they threw a FR in a game this year. Dickman is the only SR that I know pitches (but I could be overlooking someone.) Also, Bricking is a JR and plays C. Moloney is a JR. Dixie is a team that has taken some lumps early but could be dangerous by years end as they get more experience.

Sounds like the Camels took care of business against a struggling Dixie team.

What's most amazing to me about the air conditioner in ceterfield is that in all the Dixie games that I have attended at Turkeyfoot, I don't ever remember an outfield running into it (which is a very good thing!). I don't even remember a close call. I do know that the outfielders are aware of it.

Ryle was not as good as Trinity, Male, Henry Clay, or St X. Depending how good you think Lafayette and Scott Co were, Ryle was anywhere between #5 and #7. I would place Ryle at #5.

Just because you live in the city of Erlanger does not mean that you reside in the Erlanger Lloyd school district. Parts of the city or Erlanger reside in the Kenton Co school district. I believe that the Metzger family lives in Erlanger in the Kenton Co school district.

The offseason wouldn't be the offseason without Dale claiming that next year's team will be the ________ (biggest/fastest/most athletic/most DI players/fill in the blank) in school history.

After playing for the number of different HS teams in different locations that OJ has, calling the team he plays on now a "true high school team" because all the players are from the same town stuck out to me.

The kid's name really isn't important. I just wanted point out that there are kids (and their families) who make decisions on which school to attend at least partially based upon the the strength of the school's football team. Other people are aware of how those decisions are made and would like events that benefit their team to come to fruition. It's something that can't be ignored. In the interest of balance (and not just stirring the pot) I'll list some other reasons why Highlands would want to see the matchup. 1. Natural neighborhood rivalry. 2. Large gate helps financially 3. Short travel distance.

The reason this game is attractive to some in the Highlands community is that they believe they would beat NCC which might influence some kids to go to Highlands instead of NCC. Since NCC and Highlands don't play each other and with NCC actually playing for and winning more championships than Highlands in the last few years, it's harder to convince a student that it's more advantageous to choose Highlands over NCC.

I would have a hard time putting Henderson Co in the top 10 after the beating given to them by Ryle. I know it's just one game but I would be inclined to believe that Campbell Co, Dixie, and Boone Co were better than Henderson Co. I also believe that several Lexington area schools (Scott Co and Lafayette) probably belong ahead of the other NKY 4A schools.

I agree with this assessment. They were definitely a top 10 team and belong somewhere between 5 and 10.

Yea. Everybody who voted for Ryle thought a Trinity win would be an upset. Perhaps you never heard of voting with your heart instead of your head. Congratulations Trinity. You earned your State Championship. Congratulations Ryle also. Although the goal is to win state, playing for the title is still quite and accomplishment.

Petrino has 7 carries for 75 yards. He is the Trinity offense so far.

I wouldn't say Trinity does more with less. I would say they do more with more. Every year Trinity executes as well or better than anybody. The Brohm-led Trinity team executed as well as any team I have ever seen.

Yup. You guys usually beat Ryle in the first round of the playoffs.
