Featured Replies

I was looking at the Final Results from the 2006 season, and i noticed that Ryle wasn't in the top ten. Can anybody explain?

If you are referring to the rankings on this website then the final list is compiled on the last regular season week. Meaning in week 11 (10th game) the polls were closed for the year and no one thought Ryle was in the top 10. Even thought they made it to state, they may still not have deserved to be in the top top 10.

 WHAT? You most be joking, you think Ryle didnt deserve to be in the top ten! Thats ridiculous, There were only two teams left in 4a being Ryle and Trinity maybe not 2nd in state but in the top 5 without question!

Trinity, Male, X, HC were all clearly better off the top of my head. Are you saying that you're SURE Ryle belonged in the last spot, and there's no way there was a 5th team that was better?

Ryle benefited from playing on the weaker side of the 4A bracket. This helped them out and I'm sure no one is complaining about that.

There were at least 4 teams on the other side better (mentioned above).

I dont agree with Henry Clay. I think Ryle would beat them But i guess we will never know!

If you came the the Trinity cloning facility and cloned Jimmy M and a few others a couple times I would agree with you. Henry Clay was the third best team in 4A. Rocks #1 Male #2 St. X #4 Ryle #5. JMO

I think Henry Clay was a better team than Ryle. Just on the wrong side of the bracket.

Just when we were ready to move Ryle into the top ten they got beat by an average Boone County team.

Ryle got close again at the end of the year but they were only able to beat an average Dixie team by two points.

I did look at our final rankings in 4A and Ryle would have been either 11th or 12th.

Ryle had a great run but their path to the finals bordered on being a joke. NKY 4A was middle of the road like usual, Meade County stunk it up against the Raiders and if Hendo was the best 4A team in WKY, WKY 4A football was horrible in 2006.

From what I saw in the playoffs this year:

1) Trinity

2) Male

3) Henry Clay

4) St.X

5) Ryle

Trinity: We know the result of that one.

Male: Would have beaten Ryle as badly if not more so than Trinity did simply because they had so much speed. They were inches away from beating Trinity in the 2nd best football game I have ever witnessed in person. They had a moble QB with a great arm, standout receivers and a defense that would have been troublesome for a power running team.

Henry Clay: Similar speed to Male, mobile QB and they have the ability to keep fighting from behind. Down 28-0 in the first quarter to Trinity they made a serious game of it, despite finally losing. Their offense in my opinion with the receivers they had would have given Ryle fits.

St. X: While this wasn't a typical X squad I think their ability to throw the ball slightly better than Ryle, plus their defense, would have given them a slight edge over the Raiders. This is the only team that I rank ahead of Ryle that I could see myself easily switching them with.

Ryle would finished fourth or fifth in Trinity's district. The same would be true if they played in Male's district as well.

Ryle was not as good as Trinity, Male, Henry Clay, or St X. Depending how good you think Lafayette and Scott Co were, Ryle was anywhere between #5 and #7. I would place Ryle at #5.

Well if you were to go by common opponents, take PLD. If PLD had an offense that was at least average, they'd beat Ryle. Henry Clay crushed PLD. They a really fast.

That is a fairly ludicrous statement. Ryle would have physically dominated every team in Trinity's district this season except for Trinity. I will say Male's side is tougher, but Male, St. X and Trinity were the only teams better than Ryle in Louisville.
