Biggest challenge I see for Coach Burns is finding a good staff. Good assistants are hard to find these days.

Congrats to Coach Dukes. Obviously loved his time in Columbia for him to come back to where he played his college ball to coach. Good luck to him !

Travis Burns wife is Boyle alum and still teaching and coaching at Boyle. Two small children. Big raise and closer to home. Pulaski loves their football program and leaving in May is tough but job checks a lot of boxes.

2007 Chris Pardue (5-7)

Ed was a better football coach than he ever got credit for. The resources at that time were almost non existent compared to Boyle today. 3 or 4 stipends a year at most. Was pretty successful as OC at Centre for a number of years !! Good man !!

Chargers 2026 Campaign

I think Ridner does get the starting QB job so I guess it depends on how well the freshman progresses throughout the season as to how far this team can go next year.

2 teams for me I guess. 2010 Boyle County. 15-0 4A State Champs. Bell County rock fight in the semi's for the 3rd year in a row. 2022 Bullitt East Chargers. What a season. The 2nd round game against Manual. 3rd round game against Central Hardin that was one of the biggest high school football teams I've ever seen. 4th round Bryan Station that went back and forth and was tied with maybe 6 minutes to go. Then the incredible state title game. Down 14-0 in less than a minute, tied by halftime, then the two point conversion to win the biggest class in Kentucky !!

Bullitt East ended the 2025 campaign with a 7-5 record. The team didn't have a bad year, but it was not the season they wanted. To be honest, anything short of a State Title is not what is preferred. Nothing matters except the scores, but the Chargers really thought they left two wins on the table this past season. Even with those two wins, the team was still not poised for a deep playoff run, so still lots of work to do ! Bullitt East will encounter the same issues as everyone else as they graduate some upperclassmen that were productive to the team and must find some players to take their place. Who they lose. They return most of their receiving production but will need to break in a new RB and QB. Isaac Payne is expected to carry the load at running back and the Chargers will have some options at QB but I'm not sure exactly what will shake out there. On defense the Chargers were very good against the run but were inconsistent in the secondary. The Chargers return some good defenders up front and at LB. The Secondary will need rebuilding. You can only ride the wave of a State Title for so long but the Chargers are doing their best to get the most out of the unbelievable run they had in '22. The East 8th graders were runners up in their state tourney. The MWFCA is their youth organization and is ran very well. They have a spring community wide flag football season that they have to cap at 400 participants. It's flag but it really does rally the Mt. Washington community towards football. All 3 Bullitt County schools have a field house and indoor practice facility being built right now. North Bullitt's is very close to completion while East and Central hope to be in their before year end. I will include some pics of the NB facilty if I can. The Chargers will dress almost 130 players this coming season. That is great but it's also a challenge ! I don't think they have enough coaches for 130 players and good assistants are very hard to find these days. It's a good problem to have but it makes it tough to get the absolute most out of each and every player. They have an outstanding coaching staff, but it's stretched to the limit. It's tough to build a perennial contender in 6A outside of the big 3, but the Chargers are trying to do just that.

Corbin will be right back in the thick of things next year. They are always good up front with size and aggressiveness. The Estep kid graduating will hurt. He was a baller.

Switched to every two years for the '23 and '24 seasons and '25 and '26 seasons. I thought that I read that they were going to stay with every 2 years for a while, but I might be remembering that incorrectly.

Frasier flies under the radar but was a VERY well written show.
